Blocked Duct
What is it about me that likes to get infections? I am honestly on my THIRD breast infection! Let’s just say, “OUCH!” Fevers, hard boob, sore, fatigued, head aches. The worst part about all this? My friend is in town for basically today and I was walking around like a zombie with her, had to come home and sleep and be anti social, which is just horrible. Don’t worry people, I am applying heat, nursing on that side and trying to massage the area to get that duct free of blockage. How wonderful is this that I am posting about this on the internet? I am too delirious and feeling crap to even care, so back off:). It is all part of life anyways.
Lately I have considered stopping the breastfeeding. I don’t know what to do. In Barcelona it was so freakin’ hot all the time that the body heat made me want to about pass out. But now that I am back in Paris, I am realizing how few people really do breastfeed. ESPECIALLY an eight month old (yes, today is her eight month birthday…time flies)! What to do…what to do….
I know that “they” recommend a year, but it is getting a bit much sometimes. Especially now that I have this stupid blocked duct again. Maisie knows nothing else though and I don’t want to devastate her by taking the boob away.
Now that I have completely shared way too much…I am off to heat, nurse, and massage till the break of duct. Wow, I really am not feeling good to make such a dumb joke.
well….it’s not often that I’m unable to write a sensible comment about your blog post, but this one leaves me a little mystified. how does a mom effectively console her grown daughter about breast infections, knowing it may be read by a zillion people? just hoping that your infection will soon leave, you’ll feel better, that you’ll be able to decide how long to breastfeed and that life will return ‘as normal’, whatever that is for a missionary family in europe! i love you!!!!
Hi Jen!
I’ve been reading your blog for a while and haven’t commented yet, but this one just made me want to cry for you so I had to write in some sympathy because those are the worst!! Sooo sorry. I hope it goes away quickly!
It’s funny – just today I was going through some old baby stuff and came across some breast therapy heating pad thingies – do you have those? A wonderful friend of mine gave them to me when I got an infection and they were great. They look really weird, but worked wonders. Good luck! 🙂
