Barcelona

I asked for adventure and I got it.

In my last blog post I posted a few phrases that I didn’t realize would challenge me the VERY next day! These are my own quotes: “Isn’t there something so fulfilling about just LIVING LIFE and doing something crazy?” “Why do we take the easy route in life so often?” “Isn’t there adventure to be had?” “Why do we become complacent in our marriages or relationships or personal lives?” Little did I know that the very next day I would be challenged to these quotes. Do I really believe what I wrote, or was it just a moment of inspiration, something to never be lived out? Let me tell you what happened the next day. I got an email from a friend saying that there was a company called Transavia looking for blond children 4-6 and males and females 25-30 who were also blond to do some sort of advertisement…

Enjoying Life, Being Grateful

I’m really trying my hardest to stop my ridiculous complaining. I’ve been trying to sit back and enjoy life… and it’s working! Since quitting facebook, I feel more alive. I am not comparing my life or family or whatever else to other people because I no longer am stalking those people. haha Here is a little video that I took the other day. Feels so typical European, doesn’t it? Justin and I slept through church this last Sunday. It would only have been our second week in a row to go to Saint George’s, so I guess we aren’t off to a good start! It ended up being such a pleasant day though. We went for a walk around the neighborhood and then later met up with our good friends who are leaving town for a month! A lot of Europeans take the whole month of August off. Lucky!!! Justin…

Facebook Free!

I’m taking a two month facebook break, and so far, so good! I’ve been spending more time with my kids, cleaning, cooking, and getting creative! I’m also hoping to get back to my very neglected blog. Here is what we’ve been up to! Along with the tutus, I am also starting a little business with a Catalan friend here. I’ll post more on that another time! I feel like I am starting to make the best of each day and it feels good. I do wonder once in a while what certain people are up to, but for the most part, I feel really happy and content with the way I am living my life. Missing my people, but other than that, life is good!

Long Time No Write

Congratulations to me. I’ve made it! It has now been a bit over one year since we moved to Barcelona. Hardest year in my life by far. Thank God it is done with! When I think of the first year in Barcelona, these are the first things that come to mind. 1. Crying baby who had a horrible oozing rash. 2. Cold, dark, empty apartment. 3. Fights with Justin. 4. Maisie trying to find her way and her place. 5. Loneliness We went back to the states for a month to BREATHE. Although it was extremely busy with one of my best friend’s wedding, we did have a few moments to just be and relax. Not much, but it did happen. We also were able to figure out what was wrong with my poor little Cutler’s skin. I know in my previous post I had said his rash was gone,…

I Don’t Like You, But I Love You

VERY recently, Justin and I went through an extremely difficult time in our marriage. Pretty much November, December, and January were hideous months for us. There were a lot of stresses going on. We had just moved over to Spain and the reality of that was beginning to sink in. No more wonderful honeymoon stage. Our residency was having all sorts of ridiculous unforeseen issues. I was expecting our second child and was scared that he wouldn’t come in time and that a home birth wouldn’t be an option if that were the case. Maisie was accepted into her school, but we didn’t have the finances to make it happen. Our apartment was empty with no money to furnish it. We had biting ants from the furniture we did find on the streets! My grandfather passed away and we were unable to be a part of the whole (or any…

A Day at the Park

I’ve decided to start being better at taking Maisie to the park due to the fact that she is pretty much a lonely little puppy here. Daily she asks to play with friends. Daily she talks about her cousin Avery. Daily she asks if she is going to go to school. We tried to get her in school, but they are full and we are now on a waiting list. These are a couple of pics of  her yesterday after a little girl ran away from her in a square we were eating in. She was sad, needless to say. So with all this sadness and two year old depression going on, I decided I needed to be better about getting her around other friends and hopefully I can make a couple as well. Let’s just say that our first day at the park wasn’t the most successful. First of…

Apartments, apartments, apartments!!!

First of all, we aren’t living in that little piece of you know what apartment anymore where it hurts my pregnancy parts to get out of bed! YAY!!! We moved into this fantastic little studio where rent is actually CHEAPER and the apartment is way CLEANER (and sort of stylish as well, which is a bonus)! We have neighbors here who have a couple kids that Maisie likes to play with, so that’s great too! Here are some pics of the apartment we now live in: Here is Maisie passed out in her little makeshift bed! Justin laying on the bed. Yes, his feet hang over the edge! Haha! Our little kitchen area This pic shows the “dining area” as well as the work station and behind that screen thing is a small little couch that turns into the bed you saw Maisie passed out on! It’s a great little…
