Seven Years of Marriage

We just celebrated seven years of marriage on the tenth!  Seven wonderful, hellish, glorious, miserable, amazing, beautiful years of marriage!

I think it is a bit ridiculous to say that all seven years for every second of our marriage have been good, so I won’t say it.  But I don’t regret one second of our marriage.  Sure, I wish we would have done things differently at times.  But honestly, it was all part of the process of growing and getting to know one another better.  I definitely like who I am as a wife better today than in our first year of marriage!

Oh man.  The drama I put my poor herd bird through!  I hurt his self esteem in ways I won’t explain on my blog.  I didn’t trust him. I thought that I had men issues with everyone except my husband, but I was naïve to think that it wouldn’t hurt our marriage somehow.  But we have grown.  I have grown.  Justin has grown.  He has been SO patient with me over the years.

He is a beautiful, wonderful, and amazing person, which is why our marriage is the way it is.  I love him more than I think I even understand.

So seven years!  Everyone says that the seventh year is the hardest only after the first.  True people!!  IT IS TRUE!!!!  It is hard in a very different way than the first year.  In the first year you are really getting to know that person.  The seventh year you know that person, but are wishing you didn’t.  Okay, not really that extreme, but there is some truth to it! J  Throughout that seventh year, it was agonizing at times, but I can look back at that seventh year and see so much beauty in it.  The word that describes our last year would be: restoration.

Beautiful.  It has been a beautiful experience and I am thankful to share it with someone who is more open to growth than I have ever seen.  Someone who is so tender, strong, brilliant, and loving.  Not to mention he is hot!  Here’s to seven wonderful, hellish, glorious, miserable, amazing, beautiful years of marriage!  I love you Justin!!!!

oooohh! You hit the nail on the head with this one! It is completely all that you have said. Especially your example of getting to know them in the first year and sometimes wishing you didn’t in that seventh year. (I hear ya svest! I hear ya!) But your relationship with Justin has been seen through the eyes of those closest to you as growing, loving, and always learning. It has been amazing to see how you started out to where you are now and how God is changing you both every day. Changing you within yourselves, with each other, and your response to the outside world. It has been really encouraging to witness some of the things we have seen through you guys. 🙂
I love you svest! Happy Anniversary!

Jen… I found your link through Jamie Sinnott. I’ve just spent over an hour reading your blog… I LOVE it. You are Justin are both great writers. I love an authentic voice. Is it okay for me to put you on my blog list so I can keep checking back? You can check out my links… there are lots of PCC bloggers.

Anyways, it is nice to “see” you again. Now I know all about the little chicks, and I agree with keeping the gap in your teeth. 🙂 Isn’t it both strange and nice to put yourself out there for the world to see and know? My blog has been a little silly lately, but sometimes I write something and then I wonder, Who the heck is reading this? Anyways, I’m caught up on what you chose to share and it is all very good stuff.

    Diane
