My Little Nugget

I just think she is so cute in so many ways. The other day we were walking somewhere in the Hague and Maisie was of course not riding in her stroller (which she hates to do), but was walking.  For no apparent reason, she walked over to a brick wall and just stood there, as if posing for a photo shoot.  It took me FOREVER to get my camera out, but I ended up getting a couple pictures of her by this brick wall before she took off running somewhere else!

I am really having so much fun with her. Maisie’s always been a frowner. I’m not sure why as she seems content, but now that she is getting older, we can tell her not to frown and she relaxes her face and will smile. It’s pretty funny. She is totally into Elmo and watches the same movie over and over. CinderElmo, which I totally recommend. She also loves claymation Curious George movies. She loves to draw (as you have seen in previous posts) and she loves peanut butter toast, which she calls, “Buu toe, toe buuu”. She still loves to dance and she more than ever, loves her dolls, especially the one from her aunt Amy! 

I think parenting in Holland is really fun! Sometimes I am overwhelmed by the fact that I am missing out on little things that were always so normal to me as a kid. Halloween for example, we haven’t even thought of costumes as the Dutch don’t really celebrate the holiday. Or pumpkin patches. I’m sort of sad that Maisie won’t go to any pumpkin patches and have her picture taken with a huge pumpkin like her American friends. Or go on hay rides or go trick or treating. 

But then I think of all the cool stuff she is experiencing and it makes me feel a little better. Like how she gets to ride on the front of her mom’s bike in the rain or sun! Or getting to ride on the train (or metro or tram) several times in the week, which she is still excited about every time. Maisie is sort of being forced into being flexible and adaptable, which I think are really good things to carry on later in life. She loves people and animals and is really one of the more caring little kids I have ever met. Just this last Sunday in the creche (or nursery) she was so sweet and would walk up to a little baby girl and pat her back and ask her if she was ok. So sweet.

Anyways, sorry to ramble on about her! I am just loving being her mom and thought I would share it with everyone! And here are the pictures of the brick wall.
