This blog is the story of life as I went from a world traveling pastors wife to a home-schooling mom of 4.

Goodbye Mullet. Goodbye Forever!!!

By Jen | February 18, 2006 | 1 Comment

I said goodbye to my mullet today.  I was brave people!  BRAVE!  For the last two days I have had butterflies in my stomach as I thought of the fact that TODAY I was going to get my haircut.  On Thursday I gathered the little courage I had to walk into a nice looking salon (that also looked cool on the internet) and make an appointment.  I have been researching and contemplating getting my hair done here for about two months now.  While making the rendez-vous, the lady asked for my "prenom".  I choked.  I couldn’t remember if that meant my last name or my first!  I know it should be obvious with the whole "pre" part of the word, but I choked.  About ten seconds later, she said (annoyed may I add), "NAME!"  Oops.  "Oh, Jennifer," I sputtered out turning a light shade of red.  Since that day, I…

I Can Spot an American From Across the Room… and I Did!

By Jen | February 14, 2006 | 2 Comments

I went to Starbucks yesterday with my new little friend Megan.  We met there to hang out, drink coffee (except for some reason I didn’t order any), and to figure out her plans while she is living here in Paris. Can I just say that I LOVE STARBUCKS!?!?!  Not necessarily for the coffee, but for all the people I can meet there!  Love it, love it!  It’s the best place to just go and relax and meet people!  It never lets me down if I am in an extravert mood (which is about 95 percent of the time).    So toward the end of our hanging out, I look over to see a guy ordering something at the register.  He looked super familiar to me.  I was like, "Oh my gosh.  I know that guy."  He totally looked American with how tall he was, blond hair, and puffy North Face…

My Mullet is Back!

By Jen | February 10, 2006 | 2 Comments

I am delirious because it is 3am and I can’t go to bed cause my hair is wet.  I know you are wondering why my hair is wet at 3am.  We went to a restaurant to eat with friends tonight and everything here is so smokey that I refuse to sleep with cigarette smoke hair on my clean sheets.  I don’t have anything to do so I thought I would post about what has been on my mind lately…my mullet.  It is true.  I have one once again!  My best friend from high school cut it in December and it was a great cut.  She did everything she could to turn a SUPER mullet, nasty cut into a cute stylish thing.  Now…it has grown back!  It is like an annoying wart that you keep picking off, but it keeps on returning bigger and nastier!  Justin picked his wart on his…

During our free museum day (see post below) we walked by Notre Dame to find that they still had their huge Christmas tree out in front of the church!  STILL!  It is February!!!  If anything they should have a picture of me because my birthday is this month!  Megan and I decided to pose in front of the tree!

Free Museum Day in Paris

By Jen | February 6, 2006 | 1 Comment

Yesterday was free museum day in Paris!  The first Sunday of every month, Paris opens their museums for all to enjoy FOR FREE!  It is one of the only things in Paris you get for free, so many people living in the city take advantage! Along with the whole, "I am still figuring myself out" thing, I have to ask myself if I even care about visiting a museum.  Everything around me tells me, "Yes!  You love to learn!  Look at the history!  Look at the art!  You are in Paris!  Go!  Go to the museums!!!"  But everything inside me says, "Hmmmm.  That is a weird picture.  How long should I stand and ponder at this weird trinket from the middle ages?"  I don’t know people!  Is it just me or are museums sometimes a little boring?  Justin, Ndriana (pronounced Gene, he is French and was a huge help to…
