She looks so sweet and innocent.
But let me tell you, looks can be deceiving! Maisie is at an interesting age right now. Don’t get me wrong, there are so many wonderful things that I LOVE so much! She does this super cute thing where she reads to herself out loud. She also shares cookies, bottles, and other snacks with her dolls. One of my most favorite things is that we have our own little language and we speak it to each other! Maybe one day I will try to record it. It is hilarious. Some wise person once told me that, “Everything changes at one.” Man, were they right! Bedtimes are hideous! Flights are just sick and wrong (for the most part, luckily the last one was great), and she actually has an attitude now! That is what shocks me the most! I never thought that my sweet, precious, innocent little Maisie would ever throw…

We finally uploaded pictures from our trip and my birthday. Here they are! So we stopped in Denver, Colorado for a few weeks to visit my sister and her family! Here are some pictures to prove it! Amy and Jason (and their kids, of course) are moving to Portland soon and Amy and I are already getting started on dressing the girls in similar clothes! So dumb! I am not sure what Avery thinks about our great idea, but from the look on her face, I think we can all say, she is ecstatic! Justin and Jason spent lots of time doing who knows what on their computers together. And for some reason, they always wore beanies and athletic pants. It was really cheesy and precious all at the same time. The cousins LOVE each other! Ethan was so sweet with Maisie and played Star Wars light sabers with her! …

Jet lagged. Baby who has thrown up on me three times since being back in the states. Waking up at an ungodly hour for the last five days in a row. Started a stupid soup diet that has left me with no energy (so I already quit after a day and half and two pounds lost). Too much laundry to describe, especially with the vomit and diarrhea Maisie has had. Holding a baby nonstop since she is sick and wants nothing to do with anything else. Emotional exhaustion from our time in Europe. And so much more, but too tired to think of it. Goodnight.

Today a grown man stuck his tongue out at me. No joke. As I was crossing the street, standing in the crosswalk, I think I startled him as he raced around the corner in his little car. He looked at me like most French people do. You know the look. The look that screams, “What the #@%!” I get it all the time. But this was a first. I had never had a grown man in a business suit driving a little teeny French car stick his tongue out at me. I was excited as he did it thinking how he would become famous on my blog. I wish he knew how silly he looked. It made me smile and for that I am thankful for his silliness.
Read MoreSo much to love about the French!
I love the French. I think I really do! I know I am singing a different tune now that I don’t actually live with the French. But man, you got to love them. So much to love… Today Justin, Maisie, and I went out for brunch at one of our favorite places to have brunch. They have the most amazing spreads for your bread, like white chocolate, fig, some delish hazelnut thing that doesn’t even touch Nutella, dark chocolate, and the list goes on! Oh yeah. Pretty good stuff. But that is besides the point of this post. The lady that helped seat us when we walked in was a nice enough woman in her forties. The French will always tell you something is impossible if they don’t feel like they want to help you. She began by telling me it was impossible to seat us with the large poussette…
Read MoreSome updates from Paris as well as strange French things and Justin’s sniffer
One of the funniest things to me about the French are what they wear when they workout. Tonight we saw a woman jogging in a pair of slacks, a sweater, and of course a scarf! No, she wasn’t running to catch the bus. She was running with a running partner (who was also wearing a strange workout outfit consisting of some capri cargo pants and a sweater… not as bad, but still a bit strange). Speaking of strange, today when I was trying to find Justin in a big (well, big for Paris) music store I decided to tune my ears to a normal American sound. “What sound,” you ask? The sound of a sniffing nose. Europeans consider it rude to sniff, just like us Americans would consider it rude to blow our nose at the dinner table or anywhere in public. So anyways, I followed the sound of the…
Read MoreShe likes Teletubbies!
I am not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing. Today it was a good thing. I am still really sick and just needed a break. Justin had downloaded a Teletubbies video upon my request because someone said little kids LOVED them. They were right. Maisie sat in front of the computer smiling, clapping, squealing and eating her little dried fruits for over 80 minutes. Sad. I normally wouldn’t stick her in front of the t.v. or computer, but desperate times call for desperate measures. I slept. I slept while the sound of Teletubbies rang in my ear. The show is actually quite disturbing. For instance, this creepy little baby sun. I couldn’t find a picture worthy of it’s creepiness. Just watch it one day and you will see!
