Another Cold Summer in Paris
Am I allowed to feel sorry for myself for living in Paris? Sometimes when I complain, I think to myself, “But you live in Paris, France!!!!” I am not miserable or anything. It is just that I love sunny weather and it is pouring outside. I don’t mind an occasional downpour. I put up with the cold weather the rest of the year. I am just asking for a few months of summer weather. Even growing up in Oregon I got that! It was warm a couple days ago…but I was sick inside with a dumb breast infection. I know that isn’t Paris’ fault, but come on. Rain and thunder storms in AUGUST!?!? Let’s be real about this. It is just a bit annoying to say the least. Did I mention that I was THE whitest person on the beaches in Barcelona? You may have thought that it was my…

Maisie lives for danger. Or maybe I enter her into danger. A couple days ago she was being a little terror, so I let her have my paper shopping bag to play with. I realize that she loves to eat paper, but I thought I was watching her. Not well enough obviously because when I next looked over, she had taken little goober bites out of my shopping bag, with the pieces nowhere to be found. I wonder if this is part of the reason she has been constipated. Here is the damage…to the bag. Have I mentioned at all how many times I have dropped my cell phone on her little newborn face? It is true. I am not proud of it and just because I am posting that information here does not mean it is something I am bragging about. I am quite shocked at myself actually. It…

I did it. I talked Maisie through it (also myself) and mixed up a sippy cup of formula. Maisie has never drank out of a bottle, so I thought a sippy would be a better bet. Let’s just say it didn’t go over so well. First of all, it took forever to find the right temperature of the water! I had to use Justin’s thermometer that he uses when he steams milk for coffee drinks! Once it was made and in the cup, I thought I would try it to see what I was feeding my baby. YUCK!!!!!!!! It tasted disgusting! Ew. I threw up a little in my mouth right now just thinking about it. Well, I gave it to Maisie and she looked at me like I was crazy. She took a couple sips then wanted nothing to do with it. I don’t blame her. I took the…

Justin and I sat at Place Verte today for a nice Sunday lunch. Somehow I managed to knock the fries off of my plate, while the dishes collided with one another making a loud clashing noise. I dropped my silverware on the ground making another loud clanging sound and then had to reach way under Maisie’s stroller to get them. I then dropped my silverware on my plate making an even louder sound. Then, when the waitress came over to see if we wanted dessert I looked up at her to have my sunglasses fall off my head and to the ground (she shook her head at me and sort of laughed, which is actually quite polite for a French person). I didn’t even mention yet the little things I did, like my food somehow falling off my fork right before I go to take a bite, all of Maisie’s…

Today my mom sang to Maisie over the computer. I have said it before and I will say it again…I love technology. Maisie was seriously just staring at her throughout the whole song of Itsy Bitsy Spider and Where is Thumpkin. It was awesome. Awesome to hear my mom singing to a computer. Awesome that Maisie was actually entertained by this. I come from a strange singing family and now I am bringing up Maisie to be a part of that. It is great that even though my mom lives so far away she can sing to her granddaughter, give her own daughter advice on how to feed Maisie and then even watch (eating bananas all by herself…not breastfeeding…I wouldn’t go that far people). I love the video cam. It is my bff.

Poor little goober. All she wanted to do was play with the little five month old boy in his mothers sling. The mom bent down to allow the babies to see each other and like a perfect French gentleman, the little guy began sucking on Maisie’s fingers. All of a sudden, Maisie got a look of horror and shock on her face. Mouth turned down and wide open. Face turning purple. Nonstop crying (screaming!) for a good five minutes. I think she learned her lesson about getting into relations with a Frenchman. Too bad it had to be at such a young age.

What is it about me that likes to get infections? I am honestly on my THIRD breast infection! Let’s just say, “OUCH!” Fevers, hard boob, sore, fatigued, head aches. The worst part about all this? My friend is in town for basically today and I was walking around like a zombie with her, had to come home and sleep and be anti social, which is just horrible. Don’t worry people, I am applying heat, nursing on that side and trying to massage the area to get that duct free of blockage. How wonderful is this that I am posting about this on the internet? I am too delirious and feeling crap to even care, so back off:). It is all part of life anyways. Lately I have considered stopping the breastfeeding. I don’t know what to do. In Barcelona it was so freakin’ hot all the time that the body…
