Baby Wise?
Hey Everyone! My last post was about Maisie’s schedule and I got some great feedback! I have actually talked to lots of people and about 99 percent of people have recommended the Baby Wise approach. I have read the book (twice) and started feeling guilty for not doing things the way they had said. So, I decided to do a bit of research on Baby Wise, as well as other methods and was pretty surprised in what I found. Here is a link to a super interesting article on Baby Wise. On a side note, everyone who has recommended this book has also said not to follow it exactly as it is pretty strict. Anyways, I just thought I would share this article with you all! Pretty interesting stuff! In the meantime, I think we are learning what is right for us and Maisie. Thank you to everyone who commented…

Sleep…a thing of the past. I LOVE my sleep! One of the most frustrating things about being pregnant was using the bathroom ten million times a night! Now that the baby is here, my bathroom trips have lessoned, but I am up even more! I am SUPER thankful for Maisie and we still love each other. Don’t worry! I just miss uninterrupted sleep. Justin and I would like some advice though. Here is Maisie’s sleep schedule at night: -She eats between 9 and 10pm -Sleeps till 11pm or 12am -Awake till around 1 or 2am! WIDE AWAKE! And she is a bit fussy during these times. Will NOT sleep. -Finally falls asleep around 1 or 2am and doesn’t wake up till around 6am for a feeding and goes right back to bed till 9am. So the question. Justin and I are night owls and we don’t mind that she is…

We have a bond. A mother daughter bond. Maisie is my little part of me that I just can’t get enough of. When she was in my womb, we stuck together. Like when Justin and I got in an argument, Maisie was there. When I felt alone, Maisie was there. I am not saying that I depended on her. It is just that it was sort of comforting knowing that a little person was with me all the time. Well, she had no choice really because she was in my womb. Now though, now she has a choice. It is so precious to me that she knows the difference between other people and me. And she prefers me! How great is that!?! I love it! She now stares at me while I am changing her diaper, which I love. And today when I was feeding her, I caught her staring…

I am alive! I know it seems as though I fell off the face of the earth, but I haven’t. I have just had a child. That’s all! So as you have probably heard, Maisie Rae arrived on December 3rd! She was bigger than expected at 7.98 pounds and 20.47 inches long! She is a mini Justin and is the most precious thing I have ever seen. The birth was…interesting. Yes, painful. I had an epidural (the kind that they re-administer every time it begins to wear off). You can also walk around with the epidural I had. I could feel a bit of the contractions, but I could feel the pressure of Maisie wanting to join the world even more! It was quite painful, but an amazing experience that I wouldn’t trade for anything. Maisie was wide awake and ready to explore the world right when she came out. …

Ha ha. I tricked you. You thought I was going to say that our new arrival is a baby, but it isn’t! She is still cooking. But what did arrive today is our internet! We have internet after a lonely long two months of waiting. We can finally communicate, whenever our little hearts desire, with our family and friends! YAY! I guess everything is going to come all at once for us! So you want an update about the baby? I will give it to you. She is as healthy as can be. I have had two doctors appointments in the last four days where they thoroughly checked and monitored all that could be checked and monitored. The ultrasound showed her being somewhere around 2.8 kilos (just above six pounds) and we are praying that they are right with how little she is (for obvious reasons that I won’t go…

Today I, Jennifer Rae Powell, broke my tooth while eating Lebanese food. Honestly. Why was there a seed in my hummus? I don’t know. Seeds don’t belong in hummus, yet there was one in this batch. Sometimes, I just have to ask, "Why?" I mean, as if I don’t have enough to stress about, this has to go and happen. I have been patient with the water leaks in our apartment, which are going to cause someone to come and rip the walls out, leaving a tore up home for probably months. Not to mention that Justin will need to do all the French translation and insurance dealings to get this fixed. I have been semi-patient with not having internet service during a time in my life where it is very important for me to be in touch with family and friends. I was finally feeling okay and content with…
