Free Museum Day in Paris

Yesterday was free museum day in Paris!  The first Sunday of every month, Paris opens their museums for all to enjoy FOR FREE!  It is one of the only things in Paris you get for free, so many people living in the city take advantage! Along with the whole, "I am still figuring myself out" thing, I have to ask myself if I even care about visiting a museum.  Everything around me tells me, "Yes!  You love to learn!  Look at the history!  Look at the art!  You are in Paris!  Go!  Go to the museums!!!"  But everything inside me says, "Hmmmm.  That is a weird picture.  How long should I stand and ponder at this weird trinket from the middle ages?"  I don’t know people!  Is it just me or are museums sometimes a little boring?  Justin, Ndriana (pronounced Gene, he is French and was a huge help to…

Blog break is OVER!

I haven’t posted for a long time!  Truth is I have been doing some thinking about my good old blog.  I guess I will call it a blog break.   I have been on a blog break.  I am honestly sick of the break! If you have been keeping up with my blog, you probably noticed that I deleted my most recent post called, "Cold Hands and Great Books".  I deleted this post because there was some question as to whether or not the books I talked about were appropriate for my blog.  I know that the people who read this are diverse and I never want to offend.  I just want to share my life! My very last post that started this break (and is now deleted) was about two amazing books that I am currently reading.  The first book was written by my good friend/mentor who lives in the…

Please touch my hand David Gray

Oh David Gray…  What a wonderful concert you put on.  Justin and I went to his concert this last Monday night with some of our friends.  It was a little extra special for us because at our wedding our bridesmaids walked down the aisle to "Please Forgive Me."  An amazing song!   It was such a great night.   And to see them in Paris!  My goal for the night was to touch David’s hand.  Toward the end of the show, a few people started to make their way in front of us!  We were not going to have it because we were literally RIGHT in front of David with just one person between us.   Justin said something to them about not standing in front of us.  One of the girls replied back to Justin to not get his "knickers all twisted."  It was so cute.  Even though she was being rude,…

Dreaming of a Spanish Woman

As some of you may know, Justin has been out of town for a few days.  He is in Switzerland at an arts and music conference.   I was super worried about not being able to sleep while he’s gone because for the last 8 years I have either been married, or had a roommate.  There has been a handful of days where I have had to sleep in an apartment or house alone, so I am not very keen on staying by myself!   My first night was WONDERFUL!  It was way better than I could have imagined.  I took a bath and got cozy.  Then I read for a bit and fell right asleep.  Last night was just a little different.  I knew I had to wake up early for a seminar where Brian McLaren was the speaker, so I wanted to get as much sleep as I could.  I…

Body Pump OR Walk

Paris and sore legs do not go well together.  Walking.  Lots of walking.  I didn’t realize that after my Body Pump class at the gym, I would be this sore.  I am sore.  I woke up at 8am this morning thinking, "Ouch.  I am sore." So, my Body Pump class.  In case you don’t know what that is, it is basically a class full of squats, lunges, things with a bar bell and weights on it working every muscle in my arms, legs, butt, stomach, and any other body part that has a muscle.  Half way through the class, my legs started to shake and feel like jello.  Toward the end of the bicep curls I thought I couldn’t go on, but I did!  None of the little French women were going to outdo me!  Especially since I was bigger than most of the girls in there AND had less…

My first day at the gym

Only in Paris.  That is the thought that comes to mind when I reflect on my day at the gym yesterday.  First of all, congratulations to me for finally getting a gym membership!  And not to mention I did  it all by myself!  I stumbled my way through, but eventually ended up with the student rate (200 euros less!) gym membership.  I met with my trainer (everyone gets one) and stumbled through that as well.   He was super patient with me.  He asked what I wanted done and he somehow came up with an exercise program for me.  I started on the step machine (as if i don’t already climb enough in this city of no elevators).  He made me increase a level every three minutes.  Luckily I was only on it for fifteen minutes before he had me switch to the treadmill.  He set me to a level ten. …

A little update

I love it here! I am in Huntington Beach right now and it is sunny! Yesterday I went to Disneyland with my sister Amy. We wore tank tops! I can’t help but say that I wished I lived here. Yes, I know that God has us in Paris and I am okay with that. I just really do love it here. I am one of those cheezy people that LOVE sunny southern California! I am not writing much on my blog because I am catching up on 10 months of not seeing my nephew and niece. I am having so much fun with them! Avery doesn’t really talk to me in the mornings because I think I scare her with my good looks! Ethan loves me always though. Such a sweet little guy! I think Avery is just shocked that I no longer live in the computer over instant messanger…
