Back from Holland!

I’m back!  Justin and I were in Den Hague (that’s in the Netherlands) for a week of training with our organization (CAI).  One of the coolest things ever about CAI is the people we work with!  No matter what team, what country, what whatever, we are pretty much guaranteed to love them.  We have made some amazing friends from these trainings.  We did so many fun things.  We watched The Office, went to a movie, went to cool pubs, drank hot chocolate at fun cafes, had allergies from the old convent we stayed in (well, that’s not that much fun).  But we had a great time!  And yes, we did stay at a convent.  Yes, there were nuns there.  Yes, there was a super freaky poster of Jesus the size of the wall.  Yes, there was also a scary statue of Mary holding Jesus that literally made me jump every time I walked out of the bathroom.  Yes, it was musty, moldy, and allergy infested, but we loved it!  I already miss my friends from training and I just got back a few hours ago!

Although we did have a great time connecting with people, we did have to work.  It wasn’t all fun and games.  We sat through some semi interesting and really boring lecture type things, along with a couple really good ones.  Most people thought they were all great, but if you know me, you know I can only pay attention for so long before I want to scream out loud and yell things I shouldn’t yell.  Thank goodness it never got to that point, but it was close a few times.

We ended the training with a great dinner at our Friend’s amazing house in Amsterdam.  I am sad that our last field orientation training is over.  All of us have talked about having a little reunion.  I hope it happens!  It was definitely well worth the boring lectures, runny noses, quiet nuns (just joking…they were sweet!), scary Mary and baby Jesus, and scary Jesus poster.  Well worth it, indeed.

so Jen…did you take any pictures of these scary Mary and Jesus statues? I’m curious. You are such an entertaining little writer. I’m so thankful that God has blessed you and Justin with an awesome team to serve Jesus!

One thing… I know I’ll never be bored reading your blog Jen. I wouldn’t be surprised if someday you’ll write a book!
