Got Milk?

I did it. I talked Maisie through it (also myself) and mixed up a sippy cup of formula. Maisie has never drank out of a bottle, so I thought a sippy would be a better bet. Let’s just say it didn’t go over so well. First of all, it took forever to find the right temperature of the water! I had to use Justin’s thermometer that he uses when he steams milk for coffee drinks! Once it was made and in the cup, I thought I would try it to see what I was feeding my baby. YUCK!!!!!!!! It tasted disgusting! Ew. I threw up a little in my mouth right now just thinking about it. Well, I gave it to Maisie and she looked at me like I was crazy. She took a couple sips then wanted nothing to do with it. I don’t blame her. I took the lid off to see if she would drink it like a normal cup. That worked for two more sips. She looked up at me with her little formula mustache and burrowed her face into my chest.

Ok, I know I am a total sucker, but she is only a baby once and it isn’t like I am going to breastfeed till she ten. I think I decided that formula is gross and the breast is just so much easier (for us anyways). So my plan is a year. Not another year, but until she is a year. I guess that answers my question in my previous post about whether or not I should stop breastfeeding.

Here is a picture I took tonight of Maisie with her dreaded sippy cup.

And one more picture of Maisie in her little feeding chair. She loves to eat banana all by herself! Don’t be fooled by her poker face…or should I say her everyday face? Such a serious little thing. Great idea mom about giving her the banana! She is already a little control freak.

Maisie has the most adorable face. Those big blues are going to be everyone else’s demise! As far as breastfeeding goes Jen, it’s okay for you to want that bond with Maisie…and you need to do what is best for you two…not anyone else. (besides, all that trouble with heating the milk, etc….what a pain!).
