Confessions of a Bad Friend

I have some confessions to make. This probably won’t come as a surprise to most of you, but I must share it anyways.

I don’t like to answer my phone all the time. I also have a hard time calling people back right away. I will eventually do it, but it may not be that day or even that night as I forget to check my voicemails. I do not live with my cell phone plastered to my ear. I occassionally forget it or misplace it. I hate answering it if I am in the middle of doing something. I forget birthdays. I will rarely send a thank you note. I never expect a thank you note and I never expect someone to remember my birthday…(I guess that is a lame excuse for me not remembering other birthdays or sending a thank you note). So I guess you could say I am a pretty crap friend in these areas. Or you could say that I am laid back and you know you will never hurt my feelings if you forget me or don’t call me!

This is an area that I am always working on! To me, friendship is so much more than a call on your birthday or a thank you note or a call back when you called me earlier. I love my friends so much and I am so glad that they give me grace in these areas! Especially Jamie and Nicole, who I seriously just now know their birthdays!!! Sorry girls!!!!! But you know I love you!

I hear ya Jen! That is NOT an asset that comes easy to me either. And I realize that there are people who I just can’t invest in as friends because I realize that all I will do is disappoint them in our friendship. I don’t need that stress when I already struggle with disappointing myself, my husband, my kids. You and I must have been cursed with forgetfullness. 🙂 Love you!
