Mustache
I realized that I haven’t been very good at writing on here. I mostly talk about Maisie because she is a HUGE part of my life right now. I find myself talking about every detail of her. Even her poop. It is getting out of control. So I am thinking to myself, "this blog is all about my issues (thus the name ALL MY ISH), so maybe I should talk about those."
So because you have been missing out on all my latest issues, here you go!
I have a mustache. That is latest issue. No, it isn’t a hair mustache, but a sun spot mustache. I got the good ol’ pregnancy mask when I was pregnant and it has decided to stick around post pregnancy. It just happened to appear on my upper lip. Justin called me Jean Pierre on the metro today. Nice. We had been out in the sun all day and even with a ton of sunblock, it still darkened! I used to have it all over my face, but I think it all sunk into my skin and came out on my upper lip. Precious. Precious little mustache.
Here is a list of reasons I am thankful for my mustache:
1. They are coming back in style…at least they are here in Paris.
2. It keeps me humble.
3. I now don’t have to use bronzer on my upper lip…not that I ever did, but still, I don’t have to.
4. Justin has a new nickname for me.
5. I am reminded to use sun block and not get skin cancer.
6. I am also reminded to exfoliate in order to try and scrub the darkness away.
7. I can now relate with transvestites…or not really.
8. I am confident that I would be an ugly man.
9. I can finally say that I look like a man and I now have proof.
10. It gives me something funny to talk about on my blog.
so seriously funny! (what an oxymoron…). Jen, your ‘mustache’ doesn’t show up in pictures so it’s probably not nearly as noticeable as you think it is. I’m glad you can poke fun at yourself and continue writing witty and intriguing blogs. You make me laugh. Love you!
Hi Jen…it’s your California stalker 🙂 I have a mustaache too. Not one that I can blame on pregnancy but on good old fashioned hair. Yep, that’s right. On my upper lip, it grows. And I have blonde hair and light skin. Most of the time it isn’t too bad but in the summer when I get a little tan, the hair lightens and shimmers and really POPS OUT for all to see. Got it waxed and screamed my head off. The waxing lady said “you no come back here. Too loud. You scare people away.” So now I just use Nair.
I hope my misfortune makes ya feel better about yours…and laugh too! 🙂
hahaha…I’m sorry that you have a mustache Jen! You are so cute!
Jen- I have the same stupid thing, except I was never pregnant. Mine is in the form of freckles. I have freckles on my upper lip that darken when I am in the sun. It’s awesome. I am sure you will see them when I am in Paris and you won’t feel so bad. Really though, what can you do? Just laugh it.
I have some good hair remover but don’t know about the 5:00pm shadow. You are so funny! You should have a talk show or an editorial.
You are a terrific writer. I really enjoyed this entry. It was great seeing Maisie today on Skype. It was a nice Father’s Day present for George. We’ll see you July 9th after our two weeks in Uganda. I can’t wait to get my hands on sweet little Maisie!
Oh my gosh! That is the same with Julia. I love to snuggle but the bed is definately CROWDED and dangerous now that she can crawl off if she wakes up before me. Needless to say, we are adjusting our bedroom for Jules to have her own little napping spot. Oh, and by the way, I find your baby commentary interesting.Astonishing.Brilliant. Then again…all I do is talk about mine…haha. Miss you!
Okay. So I left the comment on the wrong subject. I was commenting on Maisie’s sleeping patterns, although I laughed @ the mustache stuff, too!
lol thats pretty funny. my body reacted to pregnancy with moles and bumps. Infact there is one that only shows up when pregnant. But it hasn’t gone away yet. Pregnancy does weird things to us yet we continue to go for it again eh ” )
Oh my gosh! I am dying right now with hysteria!!!! Holy crap! that is one of the funnest things I have read in a long long time!
SHUT UP! Amy emailed me this and I could not believe it. I SO have that! It kills me. I get my lip waxed but it really isn’t hair…it is a darkness above my lip! I have been out in the sun alot lately so it is really bad right now. I layed out on Tuesday and put 50 sunblock on it hoping the rest of my face would get darker. BTW, the stash also comes from birth control. Being a woman sucks some time.
REALLY enjoyed your blog!
How funny: I stumbled across this blog while googling ‘freckles upper lip’ because I too have recently developed this rather irksome condition. Your take has made me laugh about it all and put things into perspective. So as a thank you, here is something that might bring a smile to your (moustachoed) face too.
