Pee Pee!
Today Cutler went pee pee in the toilet for the first time! He said he wanted to be naked, so I took his diaper off, asked if he needed to go pee pee and he nodded his head yes. So I sat him on the toilet and he pushed and out it came! YAY! I am so proud! I know we are a long way off to being potty trained, but it’s a start! What a big boy!

Cutler’s been jumping for a while now. He is the most persistent child I have ever seen. He works hard to master whatever it is he is obsessed with for the moment. Right now it is riding on a scooter that is way too big for him and also riding on a little motorcycle that is also way too big for him. He keeps falling, crying, getting a kiss from me, and then getting back on and trying again. He’s such a brave little guy! Here he is jumping!

Congratulations to me. I’ve made it! It has now been a bit over one year since we moved to Barcelona. Hardest year in my life by far. Thank God it is done with! When I think of the first year in Barcelona, these are the first things that come to mind. 1. Crying baby who had a horrible oozing rash. 2. Cold, dark, empty apartment. 3. Fights with Justin. 4. Maisie trying to find her way and her place. 5. Loneliness We went back to the states for a month to BREATHE. Although it was extremely busy with one of my best friend’s wedding, we did have a few moments to just be and relax. Not much, but it did happen. We also were able to figure out what was wrong with my poor little Cutler’s skin. I know in my previous post I had said his rash was gone,…
Read Moreno rash = happy baby!
Little buddy has had clear skin for five days now!!! It’s a MIRACLE!!!! Well, it’s also a bit of expensive all natural organic toner purchased from one of my most favorite organic stores in Barcelona, called Granola. I mostly like the store for one of the owners (Laura) that works there and also the delish eggs (which I am allergic to). But they also have great organic fruit, delish corn flakes, lots of non dairy milk options, popcorn kernals, gluten free soy sauce, and lots of other delish things, including the most amazing goat’s cheese. But that’s another story. I am here to write about Cutler’s skin. I just want to say that it is really amazing how different of a child he is when his skin is clear. Every person who has ever stayed with us since he was born (which is just about everyone we know.. not really,…

Maisie was an easy baby. Everyone would always say that Maisie was so sweet and easy going. I always assumed this was because Justin and I were so easy going (notice I didn’t say sweet). I thought that I was an amazing parent. I would say things like, “You don’t have to change your life just because you have a child!” And we sure didn’t. We still went to bars, stayed out till all hours of the night, Maisie took her little naps wherever we were, she stayed quiet during trips to the restaurant and even on 17 hour plane rides. She was a happy and content baby, even with her little permanent frown! Here’s a picture of her when she was just a couple months old! Then I had a rude awakening with my second child. As soon as his whole body was out of the womb, he screamed.…

I had been so worried that baby boy Powell would not come on his own and I would have to be induced again, just like I was with Maisie. I really wanted a homebirth and that wouldn’t be possible if I went over 42 weeks. At 41 weeks I went in for acupuncture. Let’s just say that was a bizarre feeling. Little needles in my hands, legs, feet and even my pinky toes! Then to the needles they hooked up little things that looked like jumper cables, which they ran some weird currents through. It was enough to make me sweat just sitting there. I went in for another treatment on December the 7th (almost 42 weeks) and was also prescribed and started on a homeopathic remedy to help me relax and not be so sad. That same night I had a couple REAL contractions. I had been getting used…
