Life in Holland
LET IT SNOW!
(I know I just blogged about Dora, but things have turned around) There is just something SO ridiculously exciting about when you get the first good snow of the winter! Don’t you agree?? I laid Maisie down for her nap and came out to the the office/living room to find that HUGE snowflakes were falling from the sky! This seriously made me want to jump up and shout and scream and wave my arms all around. I love snow!!!! It brings back all those fun memories of growing up in Oregon and having school cancelled because of the snow! Or making snowmen with my sister or sledding or whatever other fun things there are to do in the snow! It also makes me think of Christmas and holidays, which makes me think of family. So I am sitting here, looking out these big Dutch windows, watching the snow fall and…

Read MoreDate Night
Justin and I had our first date night since returning to Europe! It was soooooo fun spending time with just us two and doing things we normally wouldn’t have done. Here are some things I did that I normally wouldn’t do on a daily basis (if ever): 1. We went to a movie!! We both really didn’t like it at all. It would have been fine if we went out to the movies all the time, but what a waste of our one movie a year we go to!!! If you have a chance to see ONE movie, don’t see Burn After Reading! Ew. 2. I put on fake eyelashes!! Katie and Bandna, you would be proud. It took me FOREVER to get them on right. And taking them off hurts like a mother. Justin didn’t even notice, but I did keep pointing them out to him! 3. I…

I just think she is so cute in so many ways. The other day we were walking somewhere in the Hague and Maisie was of course not riding in her stroller (which she hates to do), but was walking. For no apparent reason, she walked over to a brick wall and just stood there, as if posing for a photo shoot. It took me FOREVER to get my camera out, but I ended up getting a couple pictures of her by this brick wall before she took off running somewhere else! I am really having so much fun with her. Maisie’s always been a frowner. I’m not sure why as she seems content, but now that she is getting older, we can tell her not to frown and she relaxes her face and will smile. It’s pretty funny. She is totally into Elmo and watches the same movie over and…
Read MoreI’m Blond Again!
I’ve been wanting to go blond for a while now. Well, maybe about a year. And for some reason, I kept listening to other advice (especially by my husband) not to do it! So I stayed with the brown. I’ve been wanting a change and feeling like I’ve been stuck in a rut for so long! Literally wearing the same three pair of pants (one which is completely unwearable now, the other gaining new and bigger holes by the day). My one pair of “good” jeans is starting to wear thin on the knee and I know it won’t be much longer till there is a nice little hole there. I have two sweatshirts that I trade off every other day. I tell you this not to feel sorry for me as I probably could go out and buy a couple new things, but I am at a fashion crisis…

I usually don’t try to use metaphors or any of that kind of stuff when talking or writing or doing anything really. That’s Justin’s thing. But I needed an excuse to tie in these cute pictures of Maisie in the leaves, so I am going to do it. So yes, it is fall here in Holland!! And as I was pondering these pictures of Maisie in the leaves, it actually did make me think of how this “season” in life has really been about getting rid of the yucky stuff, and praying that good will grow back in place of it. I don’t even know if this works, but just stick with me. As you have maybe read in my previous posts when I was going through my blog crisis (sorry about that by the way, hope I didn’t offend anyone… I’m over it now), I was really coming to…

As we all know, I went through a little blog crisis the other day, but as I recently commented on my last post, I will not be quitting my blog. But I do have to say that I’ve been doing some serious thinking on this whole blog/facebook/myspace/twitter stuff. I can’t help to think that it is all a lot of pretend relationships. I know that there are valid friendships that you keep up with on facebook, but how much time I’ve wasted looking at people’s lives that I will never even have a conversation with is embarrassing and disturbing. Especially because in that time I could ACTUALLY be investing in someone who I do know or am in a real relationship with. I’m not saying that I am going to quit reading blogs completely or stop facebook or myspace, because I do enjoy those things, I just need to get…
