Life in Holland
Bagels and Beans
As some of you may know, we are staying in the apartment where our organization has it’s offices in The Hague. We really like The Hague for several reasons. We have done training here before and had a blast in the city with some of our good friends. It is also a really relaxed and clean city. At least compared to Amsterdam! I am especially enjoying our time here as we have our own little apartment that we are staying in! It is the best living conditions we have lived in since leaving Paris! Lots of big bright windows, privacy, a balcony (!!!), and it is in Europe! You can’t beat that! 🙂 So anyways, the other day Justin, Maisie, and I went out to a fun little coffee shop called Bagels and Beans because they have wireless internet. It is on the middle floor of a huge bookstore. They…

I’m not sure my title even makes sense. But I needed to communicate just how much I freakin’ love technology! SO MUCH! Here is a video of Maisie and her cousins singing and playing together over the good old video cam!

Yes, that’s right. The baby chick is alive! I woke up today, sort of expecting to find a dead little chick where I last saw it last night. Nope! No chick at all! Then I went on a search for the mamma. That’s where I found FIVE little chicks! I never knew that I liked animals so much. Geez. I guess there is something about it being a baby. Might I also say how bizarre it is that the little babies changed from yellow to a sort of dirty white/grey overnight??? What the heck! Justin went on a photo shoot with the chickens today so I could post some pics along with my update on the baby chick being alive. They are pretty camera shy (well, people shy) and went running each time they saw us. These are the best pictures he could take! Maisie and me looking…

So our little Powell family is staying at some friends' house in Amsterdam. They are one of the very few and lucky to live in a real house in Amsterdam. Anyways, they have a little backyard (it is actually quite big for a European city) with wild chickens. They have caught these chickens from around the neighborhood and brought them into their yard to use them for their eggs. Plus, they are really quite fun to watch. Well, the other day I noticed that there were a small group of baby chicks following one of the chickens around. It was SOOOOO cute!! I let the family know they had chicks (they are out of town) and they were SO excited! We went back to look at the chicks again, but we saw two little dead chicks that had been caught in some weird mesh thing that was used to help…

I am sitting upstairs in the huge home of Phil and Laina’s, just fiddling around on my computer. Justin is downstairs with Maisie playing the piano. Justin is playing these deep and loud keys flowing together to become a pretty song. I was beginning to worry where Maisie was while Justin was so into his piano playing. Just then I heard the random high pitch keys banging. It actually sounded quite pretty along with Justin’s playing and brought a smile to my face. I love my little family! *sorry if the piano terms I am using are incorrect. I am clueless when it comes to music*

We had a great week at our annual staff conference! Here are a couple highlights (or at least pictures) from the week. I pretty much didn’t think about taking pictures till the last day. That is always how I am. So here are some pictures! You might notice that each picture from that last night of staff conference was taken by me! Go go gadget arm! 🙂 These are two girls I love!! In the middle is Chelsea, whose home Justin and I are staying in in Amsterdam! She however, is off to California for college! 🙁 Then on the right is Katherine! Katherine is one of our best friends who was on the team with us in Paris! Katherine and I always have SO much fun together and laugh at anything and everything we can, especially Justin!! Sarah! I always look forward to hanging out with Sarah at…
