Maisers
Bible Tantrum
Maisie brings me a HUGE children’s Bible that is in the office for me to read to her. I begin reading, but realize how completely boring the book is. The pictures are boring and the way it is written is just ridiculous for a children’s Bible. So I tell her, “Maisie, go get a different book.” Maisie then begins crying hysterically as she puts the HUGE children’s Bible on the ground. Justin turns to Maisie quickly, thinking she has just dropped the ridiculously HUGE children’s Bible on her foot. “No,” I tell him. “She is crying because she wants me to read her the Bible, but it is just so boring!” Justin begins laughing at me and I realize just how ridiculous I am that my child wants me to read her the Bible, but I won’t because I think the book is boring. So of course we ended up…

I just think she is so cute in so many ways. The other day we were walking somewhere in the Hague and Maisie was of course not riding in her stroller (which she hates to do), but was walking. For no apparent reason, she walked over to a brick wall and just stood there, as if posing for a photo shoot. It took me FOREVER to get my camera out, but I ended up getting a couple pictures of her by this brick wall before she took off running somewhere else! I am really having so much fun with her. Maisie’s always been a frowner. I’m not sure why as she seems content, but now that she is getting older, we can tell her not to frown and she relaxes her face and will smile. It’s pretty funny. She is totally into Elmo and watches the same movie over and…

That’s how Maisie says BUBBLES. She loves bubbles and is pretty much obsessed with them. If she sees them, she screams, “BUBBA!!!” So the other day I let her put her feet in a sink filled with bubbles. She got pretty soaked, but she had a blast. And of course, here are some pictures.

Maisie has been loving to “DAW” lately! Drawing on paper, drawing on the bedding, drawing on the table, drawing on the floor, drawing on a dog. But mostly, she likes to draw on herself. Wherever there is skin showing, there is going to be some ink.

Would you believe that Maisie’s hair is long enough to French Braid!?!? This last week Justin, Maisie, and I packed up our things (once again) and headed over to our friends house to stay with their kids while they went on a little trip. They have a little girl who is almost 12 years old and she asked if I would braid her hair so she could sleep with braids in. So of course I agreed. After finishing her braids, and being pretty happy with my work, I decided to go Little House on the Prairie style with my own daughter. I felt like a true “missionary” braiding Maisie’s little hairs into these little woven braids! haha So anyways, I’ve been French Braiding it up since that day, trying new little versions so as to make her not look so much like she belongs on a farm, working the fields…

I usually don’t try to use metaphors or any of that kind of stuff when talking or writing or doing anything really. That’s Justin’s thing. But I needed an excuse to tie in these cute pictures of Maisie in the leaves, so I am going to do it. So yes, it is fall here in Holland!! And as I was pondering these pictures of Maisie in the leaves, it actually did make me think of how this “season” in life has really been about getting rid of the yucky stuff, and praying that good will grow back in place of it. I don’t even know if this works, but just stick with me. As you have maybe read in my previous posts when I was going through my blog crisis (sorry about that by the way, hope I didn’t offend anyone… I’m over it now), I was really coming to…
