Maisers

Pix for Amy Ginther

Some random pictures, because that’s the kind of friend I am! 🙂 I love this picture (despite the fact that Maisie’s hair is out of control!!!!) because this is RIGHT after Justin got back from his week long trip in Spain.  Maisie couldn’t wipe that smile off her face if she tried!!!  She LOVES her Daddy! Maisie is such a freakin’ big girl.  She loves climbing into chairs (she is obsessed with chairs) and then just chillin’ there.  This is on the patio of a place we have been hanging out a lot at in Roseville.  Great coffee (or iced tea with frozen berries if you are me) and great place for Maisie to run around! Same cafe, but different day.  Maisie loves bagel and cream cheese.  Yessss.  Bread and cheese girl, just like her mama…. and every other woman in the US of A!  I had to post this…

“We’re Girls!”

My sister Amy and her little girl always do funny little girly things and then say in a cute little voice, “We’re girls!” It is actually pretty cute and you probably need to hear it to understand just how cute it is. Well, I have been looking forward to when Maisie and I can do girly things together. I should first say that every morning we already apply our makeup together. Maisie sits on the counter next to where I am getting ready and goes through my makeup, pretending to put it on herself. So cute! Yesterday I decided to paint my toes. I got out the nail polish and started painting a toenail when Maisie came over and plopped herself next to me. Hmmmm, I wondered if she would sit still long enough to let me paint her toenails. She definitely doesn’t like to get them clipped, but painted…

I know it’s a touchy subject….

…but I feel the need to talk about Babywise again. A lot of my close friends and family used this parenting technique and have sworn by it, but I honestly cannot wrap my mind around the whole concept of letting your brand new baby (who has only known your womb) cry ALONE in his/her crib for a period of time. I don’t get it. Ok, maybe older babies I can understand this a bit more, but brand new babies? And I don’t really get the scheduled feeding thing either. I get it to a point, but honestly, aren’t some babies little bellies maybe just smaller and need to eat more often than every 3 1/2 hours? It isn’t necessarily the long distance between feedings that bother me, but the crying alone in their crib. What in the world is wrong with rocking your baby to sleep? It isn’t like you…

Mothers love their daughters

Today was such a fun day. Being a mom is amazing. I originally thought for Mother’s Day it would be nice to have a break from being a mom, but realized I really didn’t want that at all. I had fun with Maisie today. Lots of tickling, laughing, reading books, going for walks….ahhhhh, good times! Maisie was difficult to put to sleep tonight because she is teething, so I took a break from rocking her for a few minutes, but I really just wanted to be with her and hold her myself, even though she was sort of being a pain. I feel honored to be her mom and take care of her. I love being her “mama.” I’m not saying it is always easy, I am just saying I LOVE it and I LOVE her! Tonight before my mom went to bed, she gave me a card for Mother’s…

Fun in the Sun!

It has been sunny wonderful here!  We have been pretty busy doing fun things with the kids!  We have spent the last couple days outside.  Today we celebrated Ethan’s birthday early (since we won’t be with him on the day of).  It was a surprise for him and it was a lot of fun! Here are some pics and a video (because Justin requested a video specifically of Maisie)!   This is right after Ethan and Avery realized we were having a party.  When we started singing happy birthday, Avery was so happy and dancing thinking it was her birthday.  As you can see, she had just found out that it was a celebration for Ethan.  Really, she is a sweet little thing.  High drama, just like her mom and aunt!!! Kylie and Ethan! Grandma with her two granddaughters.   Maisie enjoying a little In-n-out for lunch. Amy and Ethan…

She’s a genius!

Ok, not really. I know most parents think this about their children, but it is only because we saw them when they were just little blobs of human, not even able to control their little arm movements. Suddenly, they begin to resemble a real person who can do real person type things. The latest Maisie is a real person things are: 1. Sharing her sippy cup with her baby, rocking and patting her baby to sleep. 2. “Reading” other babies (real live babies) books and patting them on the back as to comfort them in a motherly way (see picture above of Maisie and her boyfriend Eli…she likes the young ones). 3. She now points to different pictures in books that she recognizes and is starting to make animal noises when she spots one she recognizes. Elephants are her favorite. 4. When she sees a circle, she says, “ball!”…
