My ish
Another Bad Haircut
Can you even believe it?!? I can’t. I mean for goodness sakes….I live in Paris, France and cannot get a decent haircut! Paris, France!!!! This will be the fifth AND FINAL haircut I get in Paris. Geez! It really isn’t that bad. I mean, not even close to how bad it was when the silly American man cut it into a disgustingly ugly short cut that turned mullet within a couple weeks. I straight ironed my hair the other day (with this new cut) and checked the back and I couldn’t believe my eyes. It was completely uneven in the back. I am talking, long chunks just chillin’ on my neck. This is not ok. So here I am, once again, wearing my hair up all the time. Can’t a girl just wear her hair down once in a while? Nicole…I am looking forward to one of your amazing haircuts…

I realized that I haven’t been very good at writing on here. I mostly talk about Maisie because she is a HUGE part of my life right now. I find myself talking about every detail of her. Even her poop. It is getting out of control. So I am thinking to myself, "this blog is all about my issues (thus the name ALL MY ISH), so maybe I should talk about those." So because you have been missing out on all my latest issues, here you go! I have a mustache. That is latest issue. No, it isn’t a hair mustache, but a sun spot mustache. I got the good ol’ pregnancy mask when I was pregnant and it has decided to stick around post pregnancy. It just happened to appear on my upper lip. Justin called me Jean Pierre on the metro today. Nice. We had been out in…

There is hair everywhere! I can’t handle it. I just can’t! I am in the post pregnancy stage where one begins to shed their hair. I am scared I am not going to have any left if it keeps falling out at this rate. It is everywhere. In the bathtub, on the bathroom floor, living room floor, well, on every floor! I also find them in annoying places, like wrapped around Maisie’s little hand. I am scared one will get wrapped around her neck and strangle her during a nap. Ok, not really, but I swear these hairs have a mind of their own finding themselves in all sorts of places. I have never been much of a shedder. My friends in college, now THEY were shedders. No offense girls if you read this! But seriously, they would shed something that looked like a dead mouse. Ew. Mine is still…

Why do I stuff myself to the point of sickness??? I have these freakin’ twenty pounds to lose from the baby (but I am only aiming for ten as I don’t mind keeping on a few for the baby till I am done nursing) and it is not helping when I go butt crazy eating everything in sight!!! I was doing so good until I had one little mess up day. Justin and I decided that because we walked around Paris and back a few times that we deserved a cheeseburger and fries from the little burger stand around the block. And yes, I told the guy to put the fattening hamburger sauce on it as well. Yum. I got to chatting with the burger guy while Justin was out buying diapers and we somehow managed to carry on a conversation in our broken French and English. I was actually…

Staring at us in the eye for one and a half months now, has been a wishbone from our turkey on Christmas day. It began to blend in with the rest of our kitchen items on the windowsill. I think we pretty much forgot it was there. But a couple days ago, Justin realized it was there as he was cleaning off the counter. (on a side note, that is pretty disgusting that we just had a BONE on our windowsill that long…sick!) "Hey, let’s make a wish!" I agreed, as I had a lot to wish about during this time in my life. A lot to wish for. As we each grabbed a side, we took a second to make our wish. When we were good and ready, we then pulled our sides and SNAP!!! The winner of the wish was………no one. It broke at equal parts and the…

Today I, Jennifer Rae Powell, broke my tooth while eating Lebanese food. Honestly. Why was there a seed in my hummus? I don’t know. Seeds don’t belong in hummus, yet there was one in this batch. Sometimes, I just have to ask, "Why?" I mean, as if I don’t have enough to stress about, this has to go and happen. I have been patient with the water leaks in our apartment, which are going to cause someone to come and rip the walls out, leaving a tore up home for probably months. Not to mention that Justin will need to do all the French translation and insurance dealings to get this fixed. I have been semi-patient with not having internet service during a time in my life where it is very important for me to be in touch with family and friends. I was finally feeling okay and content with…

We had a fun day today. I bought my first baby thing. It is a cute little sleeping bag type thing that all the babies sleep in here. We have to bring three with us to the hospital when I deliver, so I bought my first today! Below is a picture of the little sleeping bag thing! When we got home from this shopping spree we found that our neighbors had taken our name off our mailbox because it was not printed on metal, but typed on a white piece of paper. It felt so wrong for someone to do this without warning us and letting us know we need to change it. We have almost had enough of this place. Today I told Justin that I am ok with putting in our three month notice. Scary not knowing where we would live, but it is so obvious that our…
