This is getting ridiculous!!!

I am out of control. I just looked up “chicken” on wikipedia. And before that I typed in “life of a chicken” in google and researched that for about twenty minutes. Twenty minutes I can never get back.  I am both embarrassed and disturbed with my new obsession. Something has got to change. I am feeling like I may be going crazy. I knew something was wrong when I showed Justin the blown up picture of a one day old chick on my computer and he looked at me with a disturbed look on his face. And just now as I was writing this post, Justin asked me (in all seriousness) if I was writing a post about him as it is our seven year anniversary today.  Nope.  I’m writing about chickens.   Yeah, things need to change and they need to change fast.

See a resemblance?? AT ALL???

So we all know that Maisie looks EXACTLY like her daddy.  Yeah, yeah, I hear it ALL the time.  No, I am not sick of it.  However, my mom just sent me some pics from when I was around Maisie’s age.  What do you think?  Any resemblance?  Yeah, I am desperate to hear (or read) the words that there is some sort of Maisie in me, but hey, be honest! 🙂   So at least we have the frizzy hair in common if nothin’ else!  I love this last picture of me and my big sis (even though she has her eyes shut)!

It’s ALIVE!!! ALIVE!!!!

Yes, that’s right. The baby chick is alive! I woke up today, sort of expecting to find a dead little chick where I last saw it last night.  Nope!  No chick at all!  Then I went on a search for the mamma.  That’s where I found FIVE little chicks!  I never knew that I liked animals so much.  Geez.  I guess there is something about it being a baby.  Might I also say how bizarre it is that the little babies changed from yellow to a sort of dirty white/grey overnight???  What the heck!     Justin went on a photo shoot with the chickens today so I could post some pics along with my update on the baby chick being alive.  They are pretty camera shy (well, people shy) and went running each time they saw us.  These are the best pictures he could take! Maisie and me looking…

Baby Chicks

So our little Powell family is staying at some friends' house in Amsterdam.  They are one of the very few and lucky to live in a real house in Amsterdam.  Anyways, they have a little backyard (it is actually quite big for a European city) with wild chickens.  They have caught these chickens from around the neighborhood and brought them into their yard to use them for their eggs.  Plus, they are really quite fun to watch.  Well, the other day I noticed that there were a small group of baby chicks following one of the chickens around.  It was SOOOOO cute!!  I let the family know they had chicks (they are out of town) and they were SO excited!  We went back to look at the chicks again, but we saw two little dead chicks that had been caught in some weird mesh thing that was used to help…

Teeth Extravaganza!

Let’s just say that I became best friends forever with two amazing dentists, their assistant, and the lady at the front desk.  They all know me by now.  I have had three fillings, two crowns (one of those to fix the broken tooth and the other to fix my root canal crown that the dentist thought was done in a third world country…no, just Roseville, CA), a teeth cleaning, and FOUR teeth pulled!!!!  And that isn’t counting my first visit to figure out an action plan for my teeth and the follow up to the teeth pulling.  So like I said, they know me well.  All of it was just sick and wrong (like dentist appointments should be).  But let me just say teeth pulling!!!  THE WORST OF THE WORST!  Everything about it.  The fear building up to the appointment, the nightmares leading up to the appointment, the shots, the…

My Gap

Today I went to the dentist to fix my broken tooth.  This is the same broken tooth that broke during my ninth month of pregnancy.  So yeah, 19 months later and I am finally getting it fixed!!!  My last dentist experience was AWFUL so I was completely nervous going in, but as soon as the dentist walked in the room, I was at peace. He is such a nice guy!  He was confident that they could fix my broken tooth (along with some cavities).  Ew. He pointed out that I still had all my teeth.  My wisdom teeth hadn't been pulled. This led to the fact that my teeth on the bottom could become crowded and that if they did, he could give me Invisilign (or something like that) to fix the teeth on the bottom.  He then went on to say that he could also fix the gap I…
