Enjoying Life, Being Grateful

I’m really trying my hardest to stop my ridiculous complaining. I’ve been trying to sit back and enjoy life… and it’s working! Since quitting facebook, I feel more alive. I am not comparing my life or family or whatever else to other people because I no longer am stalking those people. haha Here is a little video that I took the other day. Feels so typical European, doesn’t it? Justin and I slept through church this last Sunday. It would only have been our second week in a row to go to Saint George’s, so I guess we aren’t off to a good start! It ended up being such a pleasant day though. We went for a walk around the neighborhood and then later met up with our good friends who are leaving town for a month! A lot of Europeans take the whole month of August off. Lucky!!! Justin…

Grandpa Ourada!

I have the best grandpa ever! I really do. My grandpa has always been the type of guy who would get on the ground with us kids and play with us. He was always so fun and would do crazy stuff, just to tease us. I remember a few different funny things in particular. One time my grandpa ate dog food, trying to talk me and my sister into eating it as well. It didn’t work. But seriously, he would eat anything (and still does as long as it is soft enough for him to gum it.. he refuses to wear his dentures). Anyways, he has just always been so fun and so sweet.  Maisie and I took a trip to visit my grandma and grandpa yesterday and stayed the night. I wasn’t sure how Maisie would react to them as they are getting older and grandpa doesn’t wear his…

Maisie is TWO!

I seriously can’t believe that Maisie is two already. I hear parents say this same sort of thing about their own children, but really, it is true. It goes by way too fast! This last year went by even faster than the first! Where did the time go!?! Unfortunately, I wasn’t feeling too well on her birthday, but we still made the best of it. She woke up to us singing her happy birthday on video! Excuse my morning singing voice. I already sound like Cameron Diaz on My Best Friend’s Wedding, but then add the whole morning aspect and well, it isn’t a pretty sound! Maisie then opened presents from family (except not us) and watched birthday ecards! Then we went out of for lunch (which she slept through) and then out for a hot chocolate (which she barely drank, but did eat little cakes w/whipped cream) and then…

Betrayed by the snow

(three posts in one day, this could be a record. you might want to start from my first post a little further down the page about Dora) So it’s true. The snow has betrayed me!! I got a call this evening from Justin who is in Barcelona telling me that his flight was cancelled due to the snow! WHAT!?!? The roads are clear, it is barely snowing anymore! What a completely huge bummer. Justin’s been gone a week and I was REALLY looking forward to seeing him (and having a break from poopy diapers, jk).   We were supposed to catch a train early in the morning tomorrow (9am, and yes, that is early for us) to go to Paris. Looks like I will be catching that train alone!!! Justin got re-routed to Paris, so he will be staying the night there instead. While I, on the other hand, will…

Confessions of a Hippie Mom (judge if you like)

Sometimes I like to just come out with all the things that I am sometimes embarrassed of or think people will judge me on, just to get it off my chest. Now is one of those times. I think part of me does this to prove to myself that I am not so crazy, while another part of me just wants to be seen as normal, so by sharing what I do on my blog, I hope to make the things I do normal! Why do I even care to be “normal” and what is “normal” anyways!?!? The first thing that I have been ashamed to admit is that I am still breast-feeding. Some people are shocked to hear this as my little nugget will be two in December!!! I would have NEVER thought in a million years that I would nurse this long. NO WAY!!! Before Maisie was born,…

Maisie is a helper

Maisie has always loved helping me. When we lived in Portland, one of her favorite things to do was help with the laundry. She actually still loves it and now I find all sorts of things in the washing machine. A lot of the washing machines are front loading in Europe, so they are at just the right height for her! Lately though, laundry hasn’t been enough for little gooby.  She wants to help with MORE! So I have given her the chance to help in the kitchen! She LOVES it! Her “responsibility” has been helping with the salad. At first, I was a little peeved at the size of lettuce bits she was tearing off, but then I thought, “WHO CARES!?!?”  Isn’t it better for her to help and be a part of something then the lettuce bits to be just the right size? So now every time I…
