Good Times in the Northwest

So here we are in Portland, Oregon.  I have to say that I have a renewed love for Portland.  I have always had a weirdness of a feeling while visiting Oregon because of my yuck high school years, but I feel like I have grown up a bit and am pretty much over it.  I have really enjoyed Portland for the amazing city it is.  Here are some of the pictures that we have taken while here to give you a little sample of what we are experiencing! I love this picture!  This is at my grandparents home in Cottage Grove, Oregon.  I love their yellow house and have such great memories with them!  My grandpa (seen through the door) is now 89 years old!!!  He is still a lively man and I love him so much! Love those eyes. In this picture you can see Maisie’s first little sharp…

Fat Itches

I have tried to think of something creative to write about, but nothing is coming to me.  The only thing that has come to my mind is the fact that my fat itches when I jog on the treadmill.  I wonder why this happens.  My friend Karen explained that it is because that part of my body is now getting circulation, whereas it never used to.  She says that it will go away once my fat is used to the circulation.  I sort of just think that it is jiggling so much and that is what is making it itch.   Whatever it is, I don’t appreciate it.  I also don’t appreciate the way it looks jiggling all around like crazy.  Praise the Lord for women only sections at gyms.  Seriously, I will praise the Lord for that.

Be Afraid! Be VERY Afraid!!!

I have to say that one of the biggest things that I hate (yes, hate) about the states is how fear driven we are.  I remember last summer being scared that there was a bear in my garage (in a Northern California neighborhood) because of all the news stories on bear attacks.  This year, I am hearing about child murders and other scary things that just freak me out. I just feel like it is silly sometimes how fearful we are.  Today I was walking around the mall with Maisie in her stroller and went up the escalator in Nordstrom.  Well, this is a very common practice in Paris (unless you want to carry a stroller up a ton of stairs).   So I pretty much feel like a pro at maneuvering the stroller, whether it be going on an escalator, carrying it up and down stairs by myself, or whatever. …

Finally Pictures of Virginia!

We had so much fun in Virginia!  I love Justin’s family!  They have totally invited me in as one of their own and I am so thankful for them!  One of the first mornings in Virginia we all went over to Aunt Jan’s (far right) for breakfast.  It was so much fun sitting on the outdoor patio and just chatting it up! This is Tracy and Justin.  Tracy is the female version of Justin and they are bestest of cousins!  They seriously look so much alike it is ridiculous! Just a cute little picture of our nugget! Paige is so beautiful!  She is Justin’s cousin and her and Brock are seriously the cutest couple ever (see picture of him below!) Maisie + Brock = LOVE.  Maisie seriously was in love with Brock (he is Paige’s boyfriend).  She would squeal and crinkle her face into a little weird smile whenever she…

Drinking and Driving

I have always heard those crazy stories of moms who breastfeed while while riding in the car.  I thought I would never do it, but tonight I was forced to maneuver my body into a position where I could reach Maisie.  Go go gadget boob!

Ouch

Maisie has her first tooth. Need I say more? No, I don’t need to, but of course I will! Maisie got her first tooth about a week ago and I was thinking things were going pretty good as far as her not biting me goes. Until today. She just kept wanting to chomp down AS she was pulling away. Let’s just say it wasn’t a pleasant experience. I firmly told her, “No,” as I pried her little gums open. She burst into tears. She was still hungry, so she went back for more. Not a couple seconds later, she did the same thing, again causing me to react the way I did, causing her to react in the same burst of tears. I felt so bad. I hurt her little feelings when all she was doing was trying to relieve her pain, in turn, causing me pain. It was a…

Ten things about Virginia

Hello, hello, hello! It has been way too long! I really haven’t had internet at all here in Virginia. That’s right, I am in Virginia! Anyways, I now have internet at Mimi’s (Justin’s grandma) and it is glorious! Here are some things I have noticed about Virginia. 1. It is beautiful! Fluffy trees. I love the fluffy trees! 2. Boys have cute little accents just like on the movie The Notebook. I have to admit, it can be sort of sexy. Justin can do a great southern accent and I have asked him to use it more often…if you know what I mean! 3. People say, “I reckon.” 4. Friendly people who call Maisie “doll baby.” 5. Racism is still very real here. 6. Justin has wonderful family who I am so thankful for!!!! 7. They have sweet tea at every restaurant. 8. People talk about their cars or trucks…
