Play by Play of Barcelona
We had a GREAT time in Barcelona! We stayed a few nights and didn’t waste a minute of our time! The first day we got in a huge fight (before we even left for the airport), and then were in a funk for the first hour or so when we arrived. Yuck. I hate arguing! But thank goodness we always talk things out and we were able to get over it right after a little talk! We had lunch in a little square that Justin really likes (and it happened to be pretty close to where we were staying). Maisie had a blast playing in the fountain (that we later found out was the toilet for “ducks” or pigeons). EW! We then walked around a lot of the city and had dinner at an AMAZING tapas place. That was the day of the Powell family.
The next day we met with a guy who works with InterVarsity. Justin had met him before, but it was fun for me to meet someone in the city and see what is going on in Barcelona! Then we went to a little park for Maisie to play in. She loved it! She even repeated some little kid yelling “amiga!” She ran around squealing and playing with other kids. It was great to see her so happy! After the park, we headed down toward the beach (which we never really got to) to meet someone that Justin had met last time in Barcelona. A really cool guy that has lived in Barcelona for over ten years. We sat and had a drink with him and during that time at least three of his friends came over and joined us! It was seriously so wonderful meeting all these international people! He brought his 3 1/2 year old daughter and Maisie and her played so well together until Maisie decided to bite her armpit. Oh yeah, I felt so much guilt for that!
The next morning we invited a guy named Nate to come over for breakfast. He is working with a church plant in the city. He was hilarious and we laughed the whole time he was there. Definitely a highlight to the trip. After breakfast with Nate we headed over to a new part of the city to meet some really cool people that Justin stayed with the last time he was in Barcelona. Seriously amazing people that I imagine we would be good friends with if we end up in Barcelona. We sat and chatted with them then caught our train to Valencia, which is where we are now!
It seriously makes me SO happy to think of all the connections and possible relationships/friendships we already have in Barcelona! Friendship is so important and I miss it when it’s not there.
So there is the play by play of our time in Barcelona, whether you wanted it or not! Here are a couple pictures from Justin’s camera. I’m waiting to download my pictures to my computer, which is in Amsterdam! So more pictures and videos to come!
This is at the park that Maisie played at and spoke her first Spanish words. It was actually in a square, which is why she is in front of a store covered in graffiti.
Maisie before she started playing in the duck (or pigeon) poop fountain BEFORE her skirt turned black from crawling all around in the poop water dirty ground.
Maisie after the dirty skirt change!
So no pictures of Justin because they are all on my camera. 🙁 I’ll update when I get back to Amsterdam!
It’s sounds like you’re having an amazing time! I love seeing how God is going before you, preparing the way with future friendships. And I love the pictures. Maisie is growing up so much! little armpit biter! so funny. I love you Jen…and miss you a ton.
I love the pic with Maisie and the graffiti. It’s so Barcelona! Glad you’re having such a great time and things seem to be falling into place…God is good.
Gosh, Jen it looks like Maisie hit a growth spurt! She looks like such a little girl rather than a baby-especially in the graffiti picture! Hope all is well with you guys!
Maisie is a doll. We’re waiting for more pictures! You look terrific. Spain was good to you.
Okay…I must that Maisie looked like her daddy the first year of life…but now that she has little “boingers” and her face is starting to look like a little girl and not a baby anymore, holy moly I see so much of you in her Jen!! I think she is really starting to look so much like your baby pictures when you were that age! I mean, overall she is a great combo of you both…but it’s exciting that she looks like you as well now! She is so darn beautiful!
Glad you had such a wonderful time in Barcelona and Valencia. Hope God brings you to a conclusion shortly 🙂
Love you!
P.S. I wear that exact same outfit that you have on in that last picture exactly the way you wear it…and even with that same brown belt that goes with our matching cords! Jason was like “what? Isn’t that your shirt!” haha.
Hey, it was awesome to meet y’all. Very refreshing and encouraging. I’ll be looking forward to see how the Lord guides your steps. Take care, un abrazo, et a bientôt!
Grace and Peace,
Nate
Amazing pictures.
I know I’ve said it before, but I really appreciate how authentic you are in your writing. Talking about a fight one minute then thinking your husband it sexy hot the next! It’s life… thanks for keeping it real.
