Ten things about Virginia
Hello, hello, hello!
It has been way too long! I really haven’t had internet at all here in Virginia. That’s right, I am in Virginia! Anyways, I now have internet at Mimi’s (Justin’s grandma) and it is glorious!
Here are some things I have noticed about Virginia.
1. It is beautiful! Fluffy trees. I love the fluffy trees!
2. Boys have cute little accents just like on the movie The Notebook. I have to admit, it can be sort of sexy. Justin can do a great southern accent and I have asked him to use it more often…if you know what I mean!
3. People say, “I reckon.”
4. Friendly people who call Maisie “doll baby.”
5. Racism is still very real here.
6. Justin has wonderful family who I am so thankful for!!!!
7. They have sweet tea at every restaurant.
8. People talk about their cars or trucks a lot.
9. There are less mustaches than when I was here three years ago.
10. My face is shiny from the humidity.
There you have it. I reckon those are my ten things about Virginia, y’all!
Having been born and raised in South Carolina, I can identify with most of this. There are definitely seasons in the South as opposed to here on the west coast and Fall is a beautiful time of year. I agree with every one of those and identify with most of them. However, I am thankful I was never racist or brought up in a racist home, could care less about my car or truck, and have never used the term “doll baby.” The rest I can identify with. Thanks for the reminder of home!
Nice to have you up and writing again Jen. It’s been far too long reading about your life perspective! Guess I’ll have to take a trip east sometime to check out the rest of the U.S.! It sounds charming (except the racial tension part). Love you!
We loved having y’all here in good ol’ Virginia! We miss y’all already….and are counting down for 3 more years when y’all come visit again. Love all 3 of y’all.
Sounds like a movie. I must visit sometime. Except the Notebook actually depressed me, so it might depress me and make me long for “simpler” things. Like talking about my car and truck.
