Friends
Friendship time!
I always love my visits to Sacramento because in Sacramento holds some of my bestest friends! Awww, friendship time, there is nothing like it! Friendship time has been so great and I am glad that it is going to keep coming during the rest of our time here and as we head up to Portland and back down to Southern California as well. Yay friends!
Read MoreShedding the funky stuff
I usually don’t try to use metaphors or any of that kind of stuff when talking or writing or doing anything really. That’s Justin’s thing. But I needed an excuse to tie in these cute pictures of Maisie in the leaves, so I am going to do it. So yes, it is fall here in Holland!! And as I was pondering these pictures of Maisie in the leaves, it actually did make me think of how this “season” in life has really been about getting rid of the yucky stuff, and praying that good will grow back in place of it. I don’t even know if this works, but just stick with me. As you have maybe read in my previous posts when I was going through my blog crisis (sorry about that by the way, hope I didn’t offend anyone… I’m over it now), I was really coming to…
Read MoreAlone
I’ve been having this feeling lately of feeling alone. I write on my blog to try and help me feel connected to people, yet it just makes me feel more disconnected. It didn’t used to feel this way, but now it does. I don’t know why, really. Nothing has changed that I’m aware of. It just feels so empty. Sort of like a one sided friendship. Like I am giving of myself and not really receiving anything in return. Not that I am supposed to expect something in return, but I sort of thought that it would help me stay connected to people from far away, but really I don’t think it is. Maybe it is helping people stay connected to me, but I don’t feel that. All I feel is that people know what’s going on in my life, and I have no clue what is going on in…
Read MoreI Can Highlight Hair!
I seriously cannot believe that I highlighted hair! Laina really wanted me to try and do it, so I agreed even though I was soooo nervous! I was thinking that I wasn’t getting close enough to the roots and I was worried that it was going to have weird stripes or something, but it ended up turning out great! I used two colors, switching back and forth, and I even used foil like the professionals! Although I was sort of looking forward to trying out that weird cap thing where you pull strands of hair out! Just kidding! Haha, do people even use that? Check the pictures out! Not so bad for a first time, never learned how to color hair! YAY! Now I can color my mom’s hair when I see her next!!! 🙂
Read MoreA dramatic day for me and a cat
There is always excitement at the Graf house! One of the boys found a cat the other day and brought it into the house, asking to keep it. Of course Laina agreed to this because she knew the cat would probably just run away anyways as cats are always coming in and out of their yard. Well, Justin and Sydney (one of their daughters) are allergic to cats and began to get really bad allergies. They weren’t pleased with the cat. So yesterday Sydney and Maisie and I were doing dishes outside (the kitchen is still in the process of being remodeled) and I spotted the cat going after one of the chickens! NOOOOOO! At least it wasn’t the baby chicks, but still. Once the cat gets a taste for chicken, it will only want more! This freaked me out, so I took it upon myself to pick up…
Read MoreFarm Life and Chicken Update
Would you believe that I am experiencing farm life in the middle of Amsterdam? How freakin’ bizarre is that? Chickens, mice, fruit flies (do fruit flies count as farm life???), and then to top it off, I have been washing dishes outside for the last couple days! Phil and Laina (the people whose home we are staying in) are in the middle of remodeling their kitchen and are without a kitchen sink. So I have been busy heating up water in the electric water heater, transferring it to a bucket of soapy cold water, and washing dishes for a family of 8 (including us and not counting the visitors). It has been SO fun though!! Maisie has LOVED it. Laina took some pictures of Maisie playing in the soapy water that I will try to get from her. It has been sort of a fun thing for us to do…
Read MoreFun at the Beach!
Justin also wrote about our time at the beach on his blog, but I am giving you pictures!! We had a ton of fun! I’ve said it before, but we are having so much fun getting to know the people of CAI a bit better! Almost every night in the Hague has been spent with friends!! So we went to the beach last night because countries were competing against each other in fireworks shows. The first show was pretty pathetic, but the second one was great!! Maisie fell asleep for that one of course, but oh well! Here is our journey of the beach trip! Click on picture to enlarge!! Waiting at the bus stop! A good time for a photo shoot! These are some of Maisie’s favorite people in the Hague! Katie (in the blue sweatshirt) is AMAZING with kids! She is such a good little babysitter! Jeanie (in…
