Maisers
Some updates from Paris as well as strange French things and Justin’s sniffer
One of the funniest things to me about the French are what they wear when they workout. Tonight we saw a woman jogging in a pair of slacks, a sweater, and of course a scarf! No, she wasn’t running to catch the bus. She was running with a running partner (who was also wearing a strange workout outfit consisting of some capri cargo pants and a sweater… not as bad, but still a bit strange). Speaking of strange, today when I was trying to find Justin in a big (well, big for Paris) music store I decided to tune my ears to a normal American sound. “What sound,” you ask? The sound of a sniffing nose. Europeans consider it rude to sniff, just like us Americans would consider it rude to blow our nose at the dinner table or anywhere in public. So anyways, I followed the sound of the…

I am not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing. Today it was a good thing. I am still really sick and just needed a break. Justin had downloaded a Teletubbies video upon my request because someone said little kids LOVED them. They were right. Maisie sat in front of the computer smiling, clapping, squealing and eating her little dried fruits for over 80 minutes. Sad. I normally wouldn’t stick her in front of the t.v. or computer, but desperate times call for desperate measures. I slept. I slept while the sound of Teletubbies rang in my ear. The show is actually quite disturbing. For instance, this creepy little baby sun. I couldn’t find a picture worthy of it’s creepiness. Just watch it one day and you will see!

I know that I haven’t written on my blog much. I always get a bit preoccupied with the family when I am around them! As you may or may not know, we are in Colorado right now. Here are some highlights from the trip so far! 1. People in Colorado are a bit strange. Sorry to all you of you people from Colorado!!! Don’t get me wrong, some people we have found to be very nice (and we even have a couple friends from Colorado), but the majority are just a bit on the weird side. So far, at two different stores, the workers followed me and my sister (and our two girls) around acting as though we were going to shoplift at any moment. I have also found that people are just not very friendly or up for random conversation. I am just not used to that. Wait…yes I…

Justin and I found this really cute little French Bakery/Café in Portland. It is a great little place right on Division, around 47th or something. It looks French, tastes French, and even the servers sort of act French! The owners are French, so that definitely helps! Here are some pictures we took outside the place. Maisie was looking too cute to resist!

Tonight could have possibly been one of the most scary nights of my life. So we are living in a basement. And what do all basements have in common? Stairs. Stairs and a one year old don’t really mix. I found it out tonight. Don’t worry, there was no falling. Just almost falling. I went upstairs to throw something in the dryer real quick and had a quick chat with Carol (who owns the home). I thought I heard a little Maisie yell, but didn’t think much of it since Justin was downstairs with her. Well, about a minute later I open the door to go back downstairs and there she is, looking up at me, standing one step below me, with a long staircase below her. My heart began to race, then my mind began to race with all the things that COULD have happened if I was one…

Sometimes when I get overwhelmed with something I like to ignore it altogether. A perfect example of this is my blog. I have made empty promises in the past to try to post everyday, specifically a picture. Well, I just can’t do it! Sometimes I will just draw a blank and have nothing to say. Then, as far as a picture goes, my batteries are dead on my camera. Yeah, I should get new batteries, but I am lazy bones. So lots of new things happening in our family! At least lots of new things happening with Maisie! Thanks to my mom, she is now using a fork and spoon! I can’t even believe she can poke her little organic raviolis with her plastic fork. It is really cute. She also scoops up yogurt and other fruit puree type things. It is precious, except for the fact that it gets…
Read MoreLet’s talk about babies and underwear.
Why do babies like to put underwear around their heads? Maisie stacked them all up around her neck the other day and crawled around as though she was the prettiest little princess there ever could be. When I told my friend Katie about it, she happily exclaimed that Julia had done the same thing earlier that day. I retold the story today to my friend Margie and she let me know that her girls did the same thing. I remember pictures of my niece, when she was about three years old, wearing my sister’s thongs. Interesting. I guess us women start at an early age with our love for pretty undies. Well, except for that Maisie decided to wear my big, cozy undies that I sometimes sleep in. Sorry, but the pretty ones are reserved for daytime use. Shouldn’t it be the other way around? TMI…I know….I know. Justin actually…
