Maisers

Be Afraid! Be VERY Afraid!!!

I have to say that one of the biggest things that I hate (yes, hate) about the states is how fear driven we are.  I remember last summer being scared that there was a bear in my garage (in a Northern California neighborhood) because of all the news stories on bear attacks.  This year, I am hearing about child murders and other scary things that just freak me out. I just feel like it is silly sometimes how fearful we are.  Today I was walking around the mall with Maisie in her stroller and went up the escalator in Nordstrom.  Well, this is a very common practice in Paris (unless you want to carry a stroller up a ton of stairs).   So I pretty much feel like a pro at maneuvering the stroller, whether it be going on an escalator, carrying it up and down stairs by myself, or whatever. …

Drinking and Driving

I have always heard those crazy stories of moms who breastfeed while while riding in the car.  I thought I would never do it, but tonight I was forced to maneuver my body into a position where I could reach Maisie.  Go go gadget boob!

Ouch

Maisie has her first tooth. Need I say more? No, I don’t need to, but of course I will! Maisie got her first tooth about a week ago and I was thinking things were going pretty good as far as her not biting me goes. Until today. She just kept wanting to chomp down AS she was pulling away. Let’s just say it wasn’t a pleasant experience. I firmly told her, “No,” as I pried her little gums open. She burst into tears. She was still hungry, so she went back for more. Not a couple seconds later, she did the same thing, again causing me to react the way I did, causing her to react in the same burst of tears. I felt so bad. I hurt her little feelings when all she was doing was trying to relieve her pain, in turn, causing me pain. It was a…

Fun times in Colorado!

We are having a really great time in Colorado with family!  It is amazingly beautiful here!  Enjoy the pix! Sisters! Maisie and Aunt Amy! Ethan and Avery…his hair has lots of static from the trampoline!  We went to a little petting zoo thing up at Copper Mountain.  Maisie loves animals.  She loves to touch them and then put her hands in her mouth.  I don’t like that. Oh Jason…I love my brother in law.  He is the best.  (boop) Ethan is adventurous!  He is such a little polite guy now!  So grown up. Such a typical me look.  Oh!  I am wearing my new wrap that I love!  Maisie loves it too!  Maisie tasted lemon.  She didn’t love it. Amy likes to torture Maisie, just like she used to torture me. Yes, she is the cutest. mmmmmm hmmmmm Maisie loves Avery’s curls…as do I! Drama like her mama.  Oh yeah. …

Why do people say the things they do?

I am beginning to wonder if I should have been thankful for not understanding the language when I lived in France. I have been a bit surprised at conversations I have overheard, but also in what strangers have said to me. Let me just give you an example of what I am talking about. This morning I went to a little coffee shop and noticed that a woman was watching me as I tried to maneuver the stroller through chairs and tables. Random lady with no social skills: “I don’t think she likes to be jostled around like that.” ME: “Oh, she always has that look on her face.” HER: “So, she always looks p*ssed off?” ME: “Yeah, pretty much.” HER: “Well, she is going to have a lot of wrinkles when she gets older.” Really? Don’t you just wonder what people are thinking sometimes? Who says these things and…

See ya later Paris!

That’s right.  I am not saying goodbye yet because we are coming back in January and besides, this is a place I know we will visit again and again (at least if we are living in Europe somewhere)! We had a really great last day here spending time with friends!  We did stop by the Eiffel tower for a bit, as well as hand over the keys to our apartment.  Here are some pictures from our last day living in Paris.  Don’t miss the video at the end! I like to take pictures of myself!  This is on a street close to where we live(d). Just a little picture of Maisie saying her goodbyes to her first home. Finally a family picture in front of the Eiffel tower! A fun shot! Another family picture… minus Justin, plus Jeff.  For some reason Jeff and I like to take family pictures together. …
