Ouch

Maisie has her first tooth. Need I say more? No, I don’t need to, but of course I will! Maisie got her first tooth about a week ago and I was thinking things were going pretty good as far as her not biting me goes. Until today. She just kept wanting to chomp down AS she was pulling away. Let’s just say it wasn’t a pleasant experience. I firmly told her, “No,” as I pried her little gums open. She burst into tears. She was still hungry, so she went back for more. Not a couple seconds later, she did the same thing, again causing me to react the way I did, causing her to react in the same burst of tears. I felt so bad. I hurt her little feelings when all she was doing was trying to relieve her pain, in turn, causing me pain. It was a vicious cycle people.

I have learned one thing through all of this though. I will never ever get my nipples pierced (besides when Maisie pierces them with her teeth). If you are considering it, just nurse a baby with new teeth. It isn’t worth the pain.

So vivid Jen. Sorry but I can not HELP but picture it! I’ve been there. I feel your pain…not literally but in spirit! I miss your Paris stories too. 🙁

Bummer. Hope that she learns soon. The only time Alleke was consistently biting me was when she was really mad. I’m sure you’ve already looked a bunch of stuff up on how to help her stop, but here is some advice from Dr. Sears for what its worth: http://www.askdrsears.com/html/2/T029900.asp
