Ministry stuff

We are going to Hungary!

We are leaving to Hungary tomorrow for our annual staff conference. It is always really fun. Well, sort of. Not really, actually. Last year was pretty great! This is our fourth staff conference and I hope that the trend of getting better and better continues! Let me just share what the first two looked like. First staff conference. It was the first time Justin and I had ever been to Europe and on the way over, they gave us free wine. So I had a glass of wine with my dinner. Maybe you don’t think this is a big deal, but it is! I didn’t know that my legs had a tendency to swell on long plane rides (especially with alcohol in the system). So when we arrived at staff conference, my legs were so swollen, that I could press in with my thumb and the indent wouldn’t go away…

Picture of July 8th

I completely forgot my camera today when I left the apartment.  I was so annoyed because as soon as I walked outside I knew that I had forgotten it.  Justin and I were on our way to a church event and because  we were the ones that were leading this worship time, I couldn’t go back up and get it!   It was cool because for our monthly worship time we met at Les Halles, which is basically a huge mall in the center of Paris.  We all met in a little outdoor area (sorry for not having a beautiful picture to give you a visual) and Justin gave a little talk about worship and how there are lots of ways to worship, including serving.  Then with the money that we would have normally used to rent the church building, we split up into groups, split up the money and were…

Our update to supporters

Bonjour Everybody! We have only been back one week, but it has been week of going nonstop!  We got off the metro and almost immediately began our adventure back in Paris!  The first night we got back, we hosted our very first birthing class! There is one other couple that comes, around our age, the husband is French and Portuguese and his wife is Australian and Irish.  They are pregnant with their first as well and we have already totally hit it off!  We are excited about this new friendship!  Our instructor is a very friendly British woman who is extremely helpful in answering all our crazy questions about birth in France.  We had Sanctuary (our monthly worship time) two days after we arrived. Still jet-lagged, Justin and Katherine led worship in French and English, while Frank had a great message about a part of David’s life.  It was VERY…

Staff Conference was the Bestest

This year’s staff conference was the best yet!  There were lots and lots of reasons for it being my favorite.  Here are a couple reasons why: 1. We had two AMAZING speakers!  Alan and Deb Hirsch (he wrote The Shaping of Things to Come) inspired and challenged me in so many ways!  I am more excited than ever to serve here in Paris and see what God is maybe calling us to in new and different ways within the city.  Their talks really confirmed in mine and Justin’s hearts that we need to be in a different part of the city and so we will begin that search once we get back from the states.  Here is a picture of Justin and me with Alan and Deb.  LOVE THEM! 2.  I got to see my Mary from the south of France!  She is always SUPER encouraging!  On the way to…

A good day

A few of us here in Paris have started a new thing called Street Lunch.  We get together and make really yummy sandwiches and then pass them out (along with a water) to our homeless neighbors.  We do it on Sunday morning, when most Christians in the States would be in a church service.  I have found that this has been one of my most favorite ways to worship God on a Sunday morning.  It is such a simple way to really love and serve someone that I may normally pass by on a daily basis.  Life is so good right now.  Today we hung out with our friend Bjorn.  He just hung out at our flat with us, watched a bit of the Tour de France, took a nap on the leather chair, then we all went to dinner at the delicious Mexican restaurant.  Bjorn is one of my…
