Little “Neeners”

Yesterday we went and visited Christian and Nadine and their new little Nina!  She is sooooo precious and only seven days old!  Nadine’s mom is in town and made us some AMAZING traditional Palestinian food!  YUM!!!  We love love love Christian and Nadine and are so very sad to be moving away from them, especially now that we both have little girls!  I already nicknamed Nina “Neeners”.  She is so cute!  Maisie didn’t quite know what to think of her, but she was pretty interested in watching her new Parisian best friend.   We ended the night with a little breastfeeding sesh (session).  How ridiculous is it that I look like I am nursing a toddler compared to little Nina?!?  I know it may be weird to post pictures of two moms breastfeeding, but I just thought these were too cute!  And you can see how discreet we are!  In my…

Ice, Ice, Baby…..do do do do do do do do.

Tonight we went to an AMAZING Moroccan restaurant!  Seriously, if any of you come to Paris, you must ask Justin (not me because i am horrible at directions) where exactly this amazing restaurant is!  Jill, if you are reading this, we are going there when you and Sean get here!  SERIOUSLY DELISH and a great atmosphere!!! On to why I am posting this.  Maisie was really hungry on our way home from the delish restaurant and started to get really fussy.  For some reason Justin doesn’t know ANY little kid songs.  I don’t think his family was into musicals and nerdy song things like mine was…no offense mom, it was nerdy.  But fun!!!!!  After trying to entertain Maisie with one of my childhood favorites…something about a king with a big nose ring…I decided to bust out a little Vanilla Ice so Justin could join in.  Somehow I sitll have most…

baby pain

Last night was hideous. I don’t really mind the lack of sleep, but it drives me crazy when Maisie is in pain. I think she may be teething. Before her last feed we laid on my bed and chatted about our day. It was a sweet little time…until she burst out screaming high pitch screams. She refused to eat and would have nothing to do with anything, except the mirror in the bathroom. It is literally the ONLY thing that calmed her down. If I would walk out the bathroom the screams would begin. So I spent about two hours last night in the bathroom in front of the mirror with a crying (on and off) baby. I finally called my mom to pray and called my sister for some practical advice. Maisie finally ate and passed out from the numbness of her gums and the drugs flowing through her…

My First Mothers Day!

I had a great day today! Justin, Maisie, and I went out for brunch at one of our favorite cafes in Paris, Place Verte. Before we left Justin handed me a little bag from Printemps (a VERY cool department store here). Inside the bag was another little bag from one of my favorite jewelry stores! YAY! Justin bought me a really cute pair of earrings!! Good job Justin! The day would have been made perfect if I were able to take my mom out for lunch and spend some much needed time with her. Having a baby has definitely made me respect my mom more, especially all her hard work as a single mother. She is the best! Love you mom!!!!!! And happy mothers day to all you mothers out there!!!

Some Random Thoughts.

Today Maisie proved her womanhood.  She rolled over.  Twice.  Actually, we got it on video twice, but she did it three or four times.  This is how I know it was on purpose.  She is such a little stink stink.  We met up with some old friends (well, old for Paris) today and Maisie got a good cuddle in.   I miss these friends.  Their work called them to Africa, so they are far from us now!  They were my fellow West Coasters (as in, California).  Seriously, I love you East Coast, Southern friends, but there is definitely a difference!!!  Maisie will not be respectful and refer to people as "Mr. or Mrs."  Sorry, I am just warning you all now!  Hee hee hee.  She will also probably say, "frick" at the young age of two.  It could possibly be her first word.  We will see.  My nephew used to say,…

Maisie Made Me Cry

Today Maisie made me cry.  She has the power to do that sometimes.  After she was nice and full from eating, I just sort of cradled her in my arms (which she isn’t letting me do much anymore now that she is a big girl) while I looked around on the internet.  I thought maybe she had fallen asleep because she was so still and so I looked down to find her staring at me.  As soon as we met eyes, she smiled the biggest smile ever.  It made me giggle as well as tear up.  Sometimes I think she knows how much she is loved, but I doubt it as I never knew how much I was loved by my mom till Maisie was born.  The weird thing is everyday I think I couldn’t love her anymore than I do that day, then the next day rolls around and…

Fingers

Ever since the first comment in high school that my fingers looked funny, I have despised them.  I would keep my hand curled up so as not to display the "mushroom" or "alien" shape my fingers took on.  I think Justin is the first person that I actually would freely show my fingers to (besides my mom and sister). How ridiculous is this?  I was ashamed of something I couldn’t help!  I wanted the pretty fingernails that all the other girls had.  But God gave me these fingers.  The whole finger thing is just one more thing that I had struggled to like about myself.  It has been a few years since I have been content with the shape of my fingers.  The other day I was inspecting every inch of my precious little Maisie and came across her fingers.  Can you guess what I am going to say?  Yep,…
