Paris Life
Another Cold Summer in Paris
Am I allowed to feel sorry for myself for living in Paris? Sometimes when I complain, I think to myself, “But you live in Paris, France!!!!” I am not miserable or anything. It is just that I love sunny weather and it is pouring outside. I don’t mind an occasional downpour. I put up with the cold weather the rest of the year. I am just asking for a few months of summer weather. Even growing up in Oregon I got that! It was warm a couple days ago…but I was sick inside with a dumb breast infection. I know that isn’t Paris’ fault, but come on. Rain and thunder storms in AUGUST!?!? Let’s be real about this. It is just a bit annoying to say the least. Did I mention that I was THE whitest person on the beaches in Barcelona? You may have thought that it was my…

Justin and I sat at Place Verte today for a nice Sunday lunch. Somehow I managed to knock the fries off of my plate, while the dishes collided with one another making a loud clashing noise. I dropped my silverware on the ground making another loud clanging sound and then had to reach way under Maisie’s stroller to get them. I then dropped my silverware on my plate making an even louder sound. Then, when the waitress came over to see if we wanted dessert I looked up at her to have my sunglasses fall off my head and to the ground (she shook her head at me and sort of laughed, which is actually quite polite for a French person). I didn’t even mention yet the little things I did, like my food somehow falling off my fork right before I go to take a bite, all of Maisie’s…

We said goodbye to Justin’s parents today. They were here for three lovely days. We had a great time with them just hanging out at the apartment and walking around Paris a bit. This is a picture at our favorite neighborhood café…Place Verte. We had our last meal of their visit there. Side note: did you notice how Justin and his mom look exactly alike with their little matching glasses (click on picture to enlarge)??? How precious. Justin, Maisie, and I leave for Amsterdam tomorrow in the VERY early morning…even before Maisie’s first wake up time! Pray that we wake up on time and make the train! It pulls away at 6:50am!!!!! YUCK AND A HALF!!!! We are going to be staying with some of our friends…the Graf’s. They are an amazing family! We will be visiting Amsterdam to get a better idea of what the future holds for us. …

Our friend Andrea (who moved to Paris the same time we did and lived here for three months) was in Paris for the day and we were able to meet up for a coffee at Place Verte and then she came over to see our apartment. This picture sucks and Maisie’s head is turned around, but oh well! You get the point! So George and Ann (Justin’s parents) got in yesterday! They flew into Paris on their way home from Uganda and will be here three days! We are having a great time with them! It is so great for them to see Maisie and for Maisie to get to know them! By the way, George isn’t really wearing a necklace for real! I put that around his neck so that Maisie would maybe take to him a bit better. She is a bit shy around men for some reason. …

I completely forgot my camera today when I left the apartment. I was so annoyed because as soon as I walked outside I knew that I had forgotten it. Justin and I were on our way to a church event and because we were the ones that were leading this worship time, I couldn’t go back up and get it! It was cool because for our monthly worship time we met at Les Halles, which is basically a huge mall in the center of Paris. We all met in a little outdoor area (sorry for not having a beautiful picture to give you a visual) and Justin gave a little talk about worship and how there are lots of ways to worship, including serving. Then with the money that we would have normally used to rent the church building, we split up into groups, split up the money and were…

We had a really fun day today! After we FINALLY got out of the apartment (seriously, if you thought we were always late before, you should see us now that we have a kid) we went and sat at a cafe for lunch. Today was the day of the cafe! We stopped at another for a break to feed Maisie and then another for dinner later on. By the way, I have eaten duck twice in the last couple weeks, which is very strange since I like to feed ducks and I think they are sort of cute. I really have to not think about the fact that I am eating duck because it is almost too much to handle. It is pretty good stuff though. Ooooooh, another place we will have to go when you and Sean are here Jill! FUN! Here is a little family picture at one…

Hello everyone! I was just looking at my sister’s blog and was inspired and motivated to start posting more pictures. I was talking with Justin and thought about doing a Flicker account where I post a new picture everyday, but decided against it as one blog is enough for me. I already have to keep up with Myspace too! I don’t want too much on my plate! I was worried that people would be overwhelmed with something new on my blog everyday. Maybe some will, but too bad! If you are lame like me and check other people’s blogs every day in hopes that they wrote something new, you will appreciate my desire to “blog” a bit more. So a picture from today??? Shoot. Maybe I will start that tomorrow! In the meantime, I will catch you up with some of my favorite pictures from the last couple weeks! Justin…
