Greasy Hair
Before I left for Europe I had one of my hairdresser friends tell me that I shouldn’t wash my hair everyday because it will actually make it more greasy. Does this apply to all hair types? I am just an oily person. Yes, it’s true. So I have been trying this whole washing my hair every other day thing for a few weeks now. Only one time did I cave and wash it two days in a row. Basically, I just want to share how this does not seem to be working for me so far!! My head feels like it weighs twice the amount from all the grease. I feel sticky and yucky, even if I have showered. I don’t know how long I can take this whole washing my hair every other day thing. In fact, I think today will be the last day of greasiness for me.…
Read MoreFun at the Beach!
Justin also wrote about our time at the beach on his blog, but I am giving you pictures!! We had a ton of fun! I’ve said it before, but we are having so much fun getting to know the people of CAI a bit better! Almost every night in the Hague has been spent with friends!! So we went to the beach last night because countries were competing against each other in fireworks shows. The first show was pretty pathetic, but the second one was great!! Maisie fell asleep for that one of course, but oh well! Here is our journey of the beach trip! Click on picture to enlarge!! Waiting at the bus stop! A good time for a photo shoot! These are some of Maisie’s favorite people in the Hague! Katie (in the blue sweatshirt) is AMAZING with kids! She is such a good little babysitter! Jeanie (in…

As some of you may know, we are staying in the apartment where our organization has it’s offices in The Hague. We really like The Hague for several reasons. We have done training here before and had a blast in the city with some of our good friends. It is also a really relaxed and clean city. At least compared to Amsterdam! I am especially enjoying our time here as we have our own little apartment that we are staying in! It is the best living conditions we have lived in since leaving Paris! Lots of big bright windows, privacy, a balcony (!!!), and it is in Europe! You can’t beat that! 🙂 So anyways, the other day Justin, Maisie, and I went out to a fun little coffee shop called Bagels and Beans because they have wireless internet. It is on the middle floor of a huge bookstore. They…
Read MoreBaby Chicks
So our little Powell family is staying at some friends' house in Amsterdam. They are one of the very few and lucky to live in a real house in Amsterdam. Anyways, they have a little backyard (it is actually quite big for a European city) with wild chickens. They have caught these chickens from around the neighborhood and brought them into their yard to use them for their eggs. Plus, they are really quite fun to watch. Well, the other day I noticed that there were a small group of baby chicks following one of the chickens around. It was SOOOOO cute!! I let the family know they had chicks (they are out of town) and they were SO excited! We went back to look at the chicks again, but we saw two little dead chicks that had been caught in some weird mesh thing that was used to help…
Read MoreFourth of July in America!
We had a very fun and very American Fourth of July! I had such a fun day. It was nice being in America on such an American holiday. For the last few years we have been in France during America’s Independence day and I must say, it just isn’t the same. I sort of just took it all in, knowing that it would most likely be my last celebration of this holiday in America… for a while at least. I loved every part of what we did, down to the hot dogs and snow cones. It was all just so much fun!!!!! And of course, here are some pictures from the day. I will start off with a picture from a little photo shoot of Maisie modeling the red, white, and blue dress that Mimi (Justin’s grandmother and Maisie’s great grandmother) bought for Maisie! We went to a park…

I need to catch everyone up with some pictures! I finally downloaded my pictures from my camera, so it is picture and video time! This picture of Justin and Maisie giving kisses was taken on our way back up to Portland. Somehow Maisie decided to smile for the camera! (yeah, it is a fake smile, but a smile nonetheless!) My best friend from high school had a baby and he is sooooo cute! Here is a little picture of us with our kids! CRAZY! I took this picture the other day because it was just so cute how Maisie was all teeny tiny, sitting in the doorway of this cute little coffee shop. How that brings me delight, I don’t know, but it does! I love this picture of Maisie for a few reasons. First of all, I think her hair looks so freakin’ cute! Secondly,…
Read MoreJust Kidding!!!!
Today I went back to the dentist to figure out a "treatment plan" and to get my teeth cleaned. Let's just say that I hate going to the dentist. I am so happy that I found a guy that I like, but why, oh why is it like torture to go to a dentist? I had my butt cheeks clenched the whole time. I couldn't help it! It didn't even hurt, but it was agonizing. I don't know. It was so dentisty! Anyways, the thing I am kidding about is the gap. I wasn't kidding when I wrote the post about whether to close the gap, but that was before I knew how much it would cost to do it! YIKES! Yeah right! If it were crazy cheap (which for some crazy reason I thought it was) then I would maybe consider it, but thousands of dollars? No thanks.…
