Back to Portland… the travel continues
We are back in rainy and cloudy and cold Portland, Oregon. I don't think it is good for my system to go from sunny and warm and beautiful weather to this. Just not good at all. The good news is that I am spending more time with Maisie, reading and playing with her toys…inside of course. I was counting the amount of places that we have been traveling to and I have to say that Maisie is quite the little trooper! I keep worrying that I am ruining her forever, but then I remember that this is all she knows and for her (hopefully) she thinks it is normal! If we lived in our own home and didn't travel so much, Maisie would maybe begin to potty train as she is starting to let us know she does not like the poo in her diaper. Maybe she wouldn't want to…

I successfully talked Justin into staying one more night in California so that I could have one last lay out day with Bandna and Katie (also only our second lay out day of the whole trip). I LOVE THESE GIRLS!!! They are seriously so thoughtful and encouraging and fun! So here we are! Don’t mind my whiteness. You should have seen me before the two layout sessions! YIKES! And don’t compare me to the Indian girl to my left. That’s just not fair. And don’t compare me to the half Lebanese one to my right! I can’t compare with Middle Eastern roots. As much as I want to be brown, I will always be red. Poop. Oh and yes, I know we have the same sunglasses! We got them in Huntington Beach! Ten bucks! Gotta love the set timer on a camera and Katie running/swimming to make the shot!!!…

Before we start the picture escapade, let me begin by saying that I am completely annoyed that I didn’t begin taking pictures until later on in our trip. What you won’t find is our amazing time in Thousand Oaks with CAI staff. You won’t find pictures of us staying at Steve and Linda Adam’s home or pictures of all of us (and their girls) watching American Idol. You won’t find pictures of our fun time with Linus and Sharon Morris and their daughter Katherine. You won’t find pictures of a little hang out sesh with Rita and the fam and Deb and her father in law. You also won’t find pictures of all the friends we visited. Such good friends that they were even in our wedding! You won’t find pictures of the kids that were in our youth group in Long Beach, that are now young adults doing amazing…
Read MoreWarning: A boring update. It really is boring.
So I realize that I haven't posted on my blog lately. Let me first say that I tried to post on my blog last week, but for some reason, typepad would not let me post. It was obnoxious as I had written a whole post. A little update of our craziness. Maisie has had an earache and had a really bad fever for a few days. It was nightmare-ish. She was clingy, wouldn't let go of me, slept ON TOP of me, either cried and whimpered nonstop or spaced out like she was in a coma, and didn't smile for three days. I took her into the doctor the third day when her fever got worse to find out she had an ear infection. Poor little nugget. She is on antibiotics and is doing MUCH better now! Her fever is gone, but she is still pulling at her ear a…

We finally uploaded pictures from our trip and my birthday. Here they are! So we stopped in Denver, Colorado for a few weeks to visit my sister and her family! Here are some pictures to prove it! Amy and Jason (and their kids, of course) are moving to Portland soon and Amy and I are already getting started on dressing the girls in similar clothes! So dumb! I am not sure what Avery thinks about our great idea, but from the look on her face, I think we can all say, she is ecstatic! Justin and Jason spent lots of time doing who knows what on their computers together. And for some reason, they always wore beanies and athletic pants. It was really cheesy and precious all at the same time. The cousins LOVE each other! Ethan was so sweet with Maisie and played Star Wars light sabers with her! …

Today a grown man stuck his tongue out at me. No joke. As I was crossing the street, standing in the crosswalk, I think I startled him as he raced around the corner in his little car. He looked at me like most French people do. You know the look. The look that screams, “What the #@%!” I get it all the time. But this was a first. I had never had a grown man in a business suit driving a little teeny French car stick his tongue out at me. I was excited as he did it thinking how he would become famous on my blog. I wish he knew how silly he looked. It made me smile and for that I am thankful for his silliness.

I love the French. I think I really do! I know I am singing a different tune now that I don’t actually live with the French. But man, you got to love them. So much to love… Today Justin, Maisie, and I went out for brunch at one of our favorite places to have brunch. They have the most amazing spreads for your bread, like white chocolate, fig, some delish hazelnut thing that doesn’t even touch Nutella, dark chocolate, and the list goes on! Oh yeah. Pretty good stuff. But that is besides the point of this post. The lady that helped seat us when we walked in was a nice enough woman in her forties. The French will always tell you something is impossible if they don’t feel like they want to help you. She began by telling me it was impossible to seat us with the large poussette…
